What have happened to the internet in past 15 years?

in #freepeech5 years ago (edited)

When this has happened? Why this has happened? How has it happened? WTF is really going on in today's world for f's sake!?

We truly are living in the clown world! Yes, we are ...

Clowns

I have been reading and hearing that this SJW PC-hysteria is spreading like muslims in Europe, but never really witnessed that much of it. Except some memes and such scree captures ... but didn't pay much attention to it. Kinda just laughed it off and thought that people are just hyping things and all that. It's rather common on the internet that people are exaggerate things and things escalate very fast.

But alas! Things aren't that bad ... they seem to be even worse I thought.

From early 2000s I had a 10+ year of more or less hiatus from the internet thingies. Until that time I was more or less heavy user all things online.

Started back in the days goode ol' dial-up BBS's and before mid 90's my friend asked me to write a webpage for his BBS. sure I did and didn't see it online but several years later when I got THE connection at my new educational programming facility. Those were the good times. I'm very happy to see that BBS's have been keeping the fire going all these years. It was very nostalgic and refreshing to login into old-school BBS for the first time in many many years.

CBBS

Age of swipe-consumption is making you a dull boy, mmmkay?

It seems that people nowadays have lost all of their ability to deal with something they don't agree or is somewhat on the edge of the good taste ... just like perineum ...

See what I did there, right?

Seems that all the rational thinking has been mostly lost in these days of recurring SJW's going around and hearing dog whistles everywhere! It's not only bad for the whole conversation in our online society but it will make good reason for those who really want to control us all to hit the control switch on. And it looks like this has started to happen.

What is more alarming to me is that so many of the people who chant for the censorship and control are those who say to be for "free speech" "freedom" "solidarity" "tolerance"and whatnot. But these same people seem to thing it's not illogical for them to get offended to the core by one certain red hat in the US and many other thinks in Europe and all over the world.

And when you oppose the degeneration they are pushing, you become "nazi" "intolerant" or waht ever stupido slurs they are throwing at you if you are not down with this kind of madness:

Desmond

Especially if you point out that Gay pride equals Bacha bazi

Go figure how it's going to make person a bad one if he or she opposes this kind of child abuse? I do and I don't care if that makes some say I'm "intolerant nazi scum".

If protecting our children from this kind of exploitation is definable that way, then I'm proud "intolerant nazi scum"!

.... Got a bit distracted there, but its ok.

Flaming is an artform, not an act of violence!

When I was a child I was tought that "barking dog doesn't bite" and also that "words cannot hurt you really".

That and many other things build me a good foundation to survive in the world. World isn't fluffy cotton ball you know. It's a harsh and cruel place and you need to know how to stand your ground or you will be pushed down and exploited by ruthless people out there, which isn't minority these days!

Whining and complaining never achieved me anything. I never whine. If there is something that need to be addressed then I'll elaborate my point of view and I'm ready to discuss matters. I'm not going around and get offended with everything.

SJW

Yes. Turn that mind control box off and throw it away! It's nothing but bad for ya, mmmkay?

Flaming as an art form was demonstrated very well back in 90's. Walking through the corridor of flame was kinda your initiation into the community of thick skinned users of what ever service that was.

On Usenet newbies ∥ lamers got the love immediately. If your feeble mind got hickups you most probably flinched and scooted away. Those who stood their ground and embraced the purifying flame ... well they passed the initiation and was now part of the what ever community that was.

Of course time to time things got a bit out of hand and those incidents are milestones of the history of flame.

Alt.tasteless vs. rec.pets.cats

One of those memorable occasions was when "Moby", anonymous handle used by one Canadian named Adam Steele, with his cat advice post back in the 1993 is probably one of the best examples how to shoot first shots in the flame war. Of course flame legend Trashcan man, one Constantino Tobio Jr., and other alt.tasteless users jumped in to pread the havoc. You can read the thread here, it's hilarious!

Cats and Dates.......

The Meow Wars

The Meow Wars was probably the most well known war on Usenet. Some say it's the beginning and some say it was the end. Here are couple different articles of the Meow Wars

The One True History of Meow
Meow Wars

As a 90's flame wars survivor I just cannot fathom this kind of thing that has taken over so many forums and other platforms.

It's beyond me how wrong turns things have taken in the years of my absence. Of course I was using interwebs and emails and such .. but you get the drift ... or don't.

Trolling meant back then this

Trolling

And not this

Internet Troll

definition of the act of trolling is still somehow kept intact... who's behind this logic now?

Trolling – (verb), as it relates to internet, is the deliberate act, (by a Troll – noun or adjective), of making random unsolicited and/or controversial comments on various internet forums with the intent to provoke an emotional knee jerk reaction from unsuspecting readers to engage in a fight or argument
Trolling on-line forums as described above is actually analogous to the fishing technique of “trolling”, where colorful baits and lures are pulled behind a slow moving boat, often with multiple fishing lines, covering a large bodies of water, such as a large lake or the ocean. The trolling lures attract unsuspecting fish, intriguing them with the way they move through the water, thus enticing these foolish fish to “take the bait”. Not unlike unsuspecting internet victims, once hooked, the fish are reeled in for the catch before they realize they have been duped by the Troll/Fisherman

Conclusion

So what do we learn from this? Probably only thing that is true takeaway is the fact that everything has changed and not to the better.

When this has happened? Why this has happened? How has it happened? WTF is really going on in today's world for f's sake!?

Online communities are thoughtpoliced and it doesn't matter to these people what you really wrote. These SJW's make their deductions, which usually are completely wrong and twisted and mutilated so that we get and insult out of the greetings like "G'day!" if the person happens to live in different timezone as the poster, it's a valid reason the get offended and start screaming and pointing fingers!

Big Red

Yes, I have witnessed that. Was surreal. Thought that someone pranked me and dropped some acid into my drink.. but no.

All this said I'll like see these things change to the right direction and not deeper into the abyss we are falling in at the moment! How do you feel about trolling and censorship and SJW's war on common logic and freedom of expression and freedom of speech. I'll let them shout at me, since they have right to do so, I'm not going to shout that them. I don't feel the need.

But I'll stand my ground don't think otherwise and I'll bet that I'll have thicker skin than most of the lamers out there nowadays.

Don't be a lamer ...

lamer /n./ [prob. originated in skateboarder slang] Synonym for luser, not used much by hackers but common among warez d00dz, crackers, and phreakers. Oppose elite. Has the same connotations of self-conscious elitism that use of luser does among hackers.
Crackers also use it to refer to cracker wannabees. In phreak culture, a lamer is one who scams codes off others rather than doing cracks or really understanding the fundamental concepts. In warez d00dz culture, where the ability to wave around cracked commercial software within days of (or before) release to the commercial market is much esteemed, the lamer might try to upload garbage or shareware or something incredibly old (old in this context is read as a few years to anything older than 3 days).

Until next time ...
