Travel Guide South Africa: Western Cape

in #formations7 years ago

If you visit the west of South Africa, you should at least look at the places of interest mentioned here.

From Cape Town to the East

The highlight and certainly also the beginning of many visits to the west coast of South Africa is Cape Town or Cap Town. If the weather permits, you should definitely look at Table Mountain. After a long flight it is even possible to climb the 1000-metre-high summit on foot. Here you can best admire the unique flora. However, untrained holidaymakers can also use the cable car. The city itself is full of hustle and bustle, especially at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront there is always something going on, and the crime rate is very high. Nevertheless, it is simply impressive to be so close to the sea and at the same time have a view of Table Mountain. From the hectic pace of the city you can relax on your way eastwards along the idyllic Breede River. The city of Malgas used to be economically important. Today you can relax here. There is another drawbridge where cars are pulled across the river by people. A trip to the nearby Bontebok National Park is a nice option. The main aim is to protect the endangered colorful antelopes. But you can also observe many different birds. With a little luck also the South African national bird, the Blue Crane. In the Indian Ocean you can swim in Plettenberg Bay. Here you will find wide, almost untouched beaches. If you follow the Garden Route you should not miss Tsitsikamma National Park. It offers an impressive rocky coastline and deep gorges. In addition, there is a lot of nature. There is a suitable hiking route through the park for everyone.

Back to Cape Town

If you're in Africa, you should see elephants. In the Addo Elephant National Park there are a lot of them. By car you can explore the park and stop and get off at the designated places. Of course you can see many other creatures here. A pair of binoculars should not be missed to observe the antelopes, zebras, warthogs and other animals. The attraction of the Little Karoo is the Cango Grotto with its marvellous stalactite formations and ostrich farms. The conclusion of the Garden Route leads back to Cape Town through the wine-growing regions (cape winelands). If you haven't done it at the beginning, it's now time to go to the Cape Peninsula and Cape of Good Hope. On the way here you can watch penguins at Boulders Beach. This visit will surely be remembered in good memory.
