Pogba inspires United to a 4-1 win against Newcastle

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba returned as Manchester United came from behind to hammer Newcastle 4-1 in the late kick off at Old Trafford.
Newcastle took the lead early on through Dwight Gayle, but Anthony Martial levelled matters. Chris Smalling scored in frst half injury time to ease United into the lead, before Paul Pobga capped his return with a goal. Romelu Lukaku ended his seven-game goal drought in the 70th minute as United cruised to an emphatic win.
Martial brought United level
Newcastle started the better of the two, and deservedly went ahead on 14 minutes. Yedlin's cut back from the right fell into the path of Gayle, and the striker steered the ball in off the far post from 12 yards.
Newcastle had more chances and it took United a while to wake up. But, they started to up the tempo and Martial finally got United back on terms with a far-post header from Pogba's lobbed cross from the right. It was 2-1 on the stroke of half-time through Smalling. Ashley Young crossed in and Smalling met the ball at the near post to make it 2-1.
Pogba returned in style - scoring in a man of the match performance
Isaac Hayden should have made it 2-2 but he fired his one-on-one effort straight at David De Gea. Not long after it was 3-1. A Lukaku cross found Marcus Rashford, who headed back across goal to find Pogba waiting and the returning Frenchman fired the ball under the keeper and over the line to make it comfortable for United.
De Gea then did well to tip away Murphy's shot, but United went 4-1 up through Lukaku.After a one-two with Juan Mata, the Belgian did well with a shimmy to create space and then smashed the ball into the roof of the net from 12 yards.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned after 6 months out
The loudest and longest ovation was saved for the returning Ibrahimovic. He came on with 13 minutes remaining, and he almost made it 5-1, only to see his scissor-kick beaten away by Rob Elliot.
United manager Jose Mourinho was delighted with the returning Pogba’s performance. “He was top. It looked like he had not been out,” said Mourinho. “He came back with a really great performance. He was a great influence in the game. He affects our football. We all know, myself and the fellow players, that certain players influence the levels of the team. With him we have much more creation. I am so happy."

Pogba was class yeasterday. It shows how much United have missed him. * points behind City is huge, but if they can maintain fitness, anything is possible.
Yes, they played well. Pogba is a class act when he wants to be. 8 points is a lot, especially when you're chasing a team as good as City.
