The London club announced the purchase of a Croatian midfielder from Real Madrid. Kovačić signed a contract valid from the "The Blues" until June 30, 2024. Chelsea will pay for its definitive transfer of € 45 million. This is the largest deal with a player from Croatia in history.
During the loan, Kovačić played 51 games in Chelsea shirt. He recorded 2 assists in them. The 25-year-old reached from "The Blues" after the triumph in the Europa League, and they took 3rd place in the Premier League.
FIFA imposed a transfer ban on Chelsea. "The Blues" could obtain Kovačić permanently due to the earlier loan and the fact that it was already registered in the English federation.
