Inter Milan confirmed the acquisition of the representative of Uruguay, Diego Godín, on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old center defender in Inter is expected to earn € 4.5 million for the season, which can be achieved by € 1.5 million bonuses. The contract is valid until 30 June 2022.
For an experienced defender, this is the first move to a non-Spanish speaking country. Previously, he played only in his homeland in Cerro and Nacional and in Spain for Villarreal and since 2010 in Madrid. For Atlético, he played 387 matches, reaching for the Spanish championship and reaching the Champions League final twice.
For Inter, this is the second summer transfer after Gabriel Brazão. Earlier, Matteo Politano and Eddie Salcedo were also bought out after the loan.
