Steemit Thursday Night NFL Free-For-All: Giants at Eagles

We have reached the final of our regular season series of Free-For-All posts.

The last Thursday night game of the NFL’s regular season will be a division rivalry between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles. In their first match-up on November 6th at New York, the Giants were able to come away with a 28-23 victory. Eli Manning threw four touchdown passes against the Eagles, who have now lost six of their last seven games and have been eliminated from playoff contention.

The Giants (10-4) have had their struggles on offense, particularly running the ball. Fortunately for them, they have one of the best receivers in the league – Odell Beckham. With 85 receptions, 1173 yards, and 10 touchdowns, he’s proving to be one of the elite players in the league once again, despite some previous character issues earlier in the season. In their first meeting, the Eagles were able to hold Beckham to just four catches for 46 yards, but he was able to find the end zone twice. On defense, Olivier Vernon and Jason Pierre-Paul have been getting after the quarterback and have combined for 15.5 sacks through 14 games.

The Giants need to win their next two games in order to have a shot at winning the division and possibly stealing the crown from the Dallas Cowboys. If Dallas wins either of their last two games, they will win the division and the Giants will be vying for a wild card position in the playoffs.

With Darren Sproles out of the game due to a concussion, the Eagles may have a tough time getting their offense going against a Giants defense that has played very well the last two weeks. They can still play the spoiler for the Giants and have the advantage of being at home for this game, but after their five-game losing streak, being eliminated from the playoffs, and not having Sproles may be too difficult to overcome against their rival. But anything is possible late in the NFL season.

Game time is 8:25pm ET (5:25pm PST, UTC -8) on Thursday night, December 22nd. Projected weather forecast is partly cloudy, with a high temperature of 45 degrees F and a low of 32. You can watch the game on NBC or on the NFL Network.

Statistical Categories for This Week’s Contest

We will again have five statistics for this game. They are listed below, with current stats for each selection. Some numbers have been rounded for game accuracy. Statistics with decimal places can have game results with decimal numbers.

1. Giants Quarterback, Eli Manning, Passing Yards: Season average per game is 249.

2. Giants Receiver, Odell Beckham, Yards per Catch: Season average is 13.8.

3. Eagles Team, Average Yards per Rush: Season average 4.2.

4. Eagles Quarterback, Carson Wentz, Completed Passes: Season average per game is 24.

5. Longest Field Goal by Either Team: Season long is 55 (Eagles, Caleb Sturgis).

PLEASE NOTE: Accuracy matters! If a game statistic can have a decimal place, guessing closest to that decimal number can result in an outright win, rather than a tie and a split reward. On the other hand, it can also result in missing out on the tie and any potential rewards.

How to Play and Win

  1. In a comment on this post, submit your numbers in the order that they appear above. You can number your selections (1–5) as they are above or not, but if not, I will assume that they are in the correct order and the results will be checked in that order. ONLY ONE COMMENT SUBMISSION PER USER, PER CONTEST.

  2. Once your comment is submitted, I will confirm it after the deadline for entering the contest. The deadline for submission each week is 11:00PM NEW YORK TIME (UTC -5) ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT. After submissions are confirmed by me, any new entries or edits to comments will automatically disqualify you from the contest. So make sure that you have accurately submitted your numbers before the deadline.

  3. There will be one winner for each statistic. The winner will be the contestant closest to the actual final statistics from the game. There is no limit to the number of stat categories that you can win. Contestants can potentially win one or all of the categories.

  4. The contest is funded with 100% of the liquid rewards from this post, plus an additional 250 STEEM graciously donated by @nextgencrypto. The rewards distribution will be divided evenly between the five statistical categories. Each category winner will receive 20% of the total rewards. In the event of a tie, the rewards will be split between the tying contestants for that category.
