Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar @ KaDeWe (Berlin, Germany)

in #foodphotography7 years ago (edited)

Today I'm doing some serious shopping in Berlin's most iconic department store called KaDeWe. It is the largest department store in continental Europe (over 60,000 m2 floor space), let's say it's a Berlin version of Galeries Lafayette in Paris or Harrods in London.

Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar located on the 6F of KaDeWe is one of my favourite spots to drink a glass of Champagne while I'm in Berlin.

KaDeWe 6F: Food Floor

For me, KaDeWe's best floor is the 6F- Delicatessen, Food Floor. You can find most of the worlds top quality food here. So whenever I have a plan of organising a dinner party or having guests over, KaDeWe 6F is my first stop to sort food/ingredients out.

Here's the Champagne section.

I think this display is pretty impressive. Whenever I feel a little down, I call in KaDeWe and cheer myself up by viewing this vast selection of Champagne bottles :) They are all chilled and ready to be selected by me.

Champagne Bars

In case you cannot wait to drink until you get home, there are four Champagne Bars on this floor, Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot, Pommery and Jacquart. The choice is easy for me - straight to the yellowy orange gorgeous Veuve Clicquot counter!

I always have the same thing - a large bulbous glass of Veuve Clicquot Brut with ice cubes. I only stay here for one glass/30 mins or so, but this is an incredibly relaxing half an hour. The Bar is always full of good energy surrounded by fellow busy weekend shoppers just stopping for a glass or two before heading home.

Highly recommended if you feel like a quick and fabulous glass of Veuve Clicquot after shopping on a busy weekend.

What is your favourite Champagne?

Is it normal for a department store in Europe to have a champagne bar?

A few years ago, interior designer Yasumichi Morita, who worked on the renovation of Isetan Shinjuku(maybe you know that is the most fashionable department store in japan),
He made set up a champagne oyster bar on 2F.
It was felt very innovative at that time.( ・∀・)

Yes I think it's quite common here : ) Nothing super fancy though, it's a small cozy space, full of energy, so it's easy to just stop by for a glass without any preparation (getting dressed up etc). You don't usually go to a proper stylish Champagne Bar carrying lots of shopping bags, but this one you can, and you can still drink a fantastic Champagne, that's what I love about! I googled Yasumichi Morita, but couldn't quite find the oyster bar in Isetan Shinjuku.., I'm very interested. Thanks so much for telling me, he seems to have done a lot of interesting design work worldwide, wow!!

Sorry ! it was my explanation shortage!

There was oyster at the menu of opening, but now it seems has changed to coffee and sweets.

The consistent theme of his creation is "Glamorous"

and
The impression I have about Japanese department stores is festive.
It feels be doing a festival everyday.
So it is a place for champagne is fitting.

I appreciate your polite reply.@anna-bella ( ・∀・)ノシ

Oh mdn you're the best! Thanks so much for all the links. I'd love to look into it later. He's the guy who's done the baccarrat's anniversary work a few years ago? wow I didn't know it was him!!

The chandelier and his "glamorous" style got the best marriage.
His creation is self-taught.
It is wonderful for each other that Baccarat with 250 years of history appointed him.

I remember being totally stunned when one of my friends in Tokyo posted about this chandelier a few years ago. I'm so glad you told me about Yasumichi Morita!! It made me laugh when I saw the cost of the chandelier - 4 billion JPY ... hahaha!
