A food you need to eat when you go to Philippines 🐣🇵🇭

| Yes of course... lol

but with a developed fetus inside of it?
Sounds weird isn’t it?
Nah, many people really love it though ❤️!

If you are used to eat a plain boiled egg then you should try this one.

Let me present to you! Our very own...

Balot

One of the delicacies that marked the heart of the Filipinos as well as foreigners who visited Philippines.

Balot or also known as
Cooked under-developed duck embryo.
Yes, a duck. Balot is actually a duck’s egg which has under developed duckling inside it’s shell. It may sound unappetizing but it tastes different from the way it looks like.

Balot has it’s specific number which determine the days old of the duckling inside. The most common picked numbers are 18, 16 and 0 or No number or also known as the ”Balot penoy” which is my fave ✌️

It is believed to be an “energizer” to the elders for if they eat balot, they tend to be stronger in many aspects 😂✌️
I dont know if its true but a lot of them say it really is

This balot I took a picture with has an x mark but its also a number 18.

I had a hard time taking this picture coz it was still very hot when I touched it.😂✋

It looks weird but dude! If you could just taste it! For sure you’ll eat up more than 5 balots.

0 or the ”Balot penoy”
My favorite one! 😱 it has no visible duck embryo and looks like a normal egg but way more tastier than a normal egg.

I wasn’t able to took a picture when it was opened because I got too excited and forgot that i need to took a picture lol

Balot is delicious but it is tastier with this.

Balot is sold as a streetfood here in Philippines. It is good to be eaten during night time, behind the light of a lamp post because some people don’t like how balot looks like but because of its delicious taste thats’s why they usually eat in a dark place or places shaded with shadows from the posts.

Indeed Balot is a very interesting food isn’t it? 🤤🐣

Aside from it is very affordable and delicious, a warm and friendly approach of the vendors is already a plus point.

So if you would have some time to visit here in Philippines, dont forget to taste balot and be amazed! 😁🤞
