The taste for food is shared with the pleasure of cooking, that ability to transform food into delicious dishes for the enjoyment of others. That can be the greatest satisfaction when cooking.

I worked for about 2 years in a traditional Arabic restaurant, that's why I can share this recipe with you today.

Myadra with Pork chop & roasted zucchini

The Myadra is a traditional dish from the Middle East. the people I used to work with are from Syria and they ate it very often. I learned how to prepare it by watching ... It is a simple dish of rice with lentils and roasted onions, accompanied with vegetables and pork. I decided to use a pork chop.

Preparing it is simple and I hope that this step by step will serve to give you encouragement and prepare it in your home. -I know that you want to discover new flavors-

Here is the list of ingredients:

2 cups of rice - 1 cup of lentils

1 and a half onion - Olive oil - Salt

Consumer information:

The lentils are part of the legumes. They are a highly consumed food for their carbohydrates and proteins, iron, zinc, magnesium, sodium, potassium, among others. Also for vitamins such as: Vitamin A, E. Complex B: as B2, B3, B6, B9 (Folic acid). Apart they are a source of phosphorus and let's not forget the fiber.Source

How to cook the Myadra - Step by Step

Cook the lentils in 2.5 cups of water until they soften (The water will dry up). Always remember to wash all foods before preparing them. The process of cooking the lentils is fast, due to the amount used for this recipe. Approximately 15min.

When the lentils are soft, add the 2 cups of rice directly in the pot. Add salt and the necessary water. Taking into account that for each cup of rice, 2 of water. This measure will not apply, use the remaining water of the lentils and add 1 and a half cup of water. Cover the pot and cook over medium heat. You should be in constant review in case the water dries very fast.

The Myadra is characterized by roasted onion. This is the secret of this recipe, the flavor provided by the onion turns this simple dish of rice into a festival of sweet flavors in your mouth, added to that the fried flavor of the onion is delicious.

Preheat a pan, cut the onions in julienne strips. When the pan is hot add the oil. Let it warm up a little, remember that we are going to roast not fry. When the time comes put all the onions in the oil. When you see that they have a brown color it will be time to remove them from the heat and let them drain in the same pan. The remaining oil you add to the preparation of Myadra, mix well. let the oil cool before adding it

I hope you are encouraged to make this recipe. I prepare it whenever I can. It is very economical and easy to prepare. You can substitute the chop for other types of vegetables. I suggest they be pickled vegetables. That will give it a more Arabic touch.
