Epic Battles of Everything #1: Salmon vs. Chicken

Hey Y'all,

I've decided to start a new series where I will compare one thing with another. There will be times that my battles won't make sense whatsoever but so what; that's the beauty of the whole thing. For today I picked salmon vs chicken. Which one do you think is better for a healthy nutrition?

Yesterday, I started working out again after 5 weeks of full inactivity. I had a really bad injury that kept me in bed for a long time, but I am back on track now so let's not talk about that. I also decided to start eating super-healthy for the next 4-6 weeks in order to get shredded. 

My diet will include lots of salads, carrots, cucumbers, legumes, sardines, rice, brown pasta, certain fruits (bananas, strawberries and watermelon), low fat cheese, oatmeal and raisins for breakfast, honey and low fat milk. I plan to stick to a strict diet for six days (1,200-1,500 calories) of the week and a cheat day that won't surpass 2,500 calories. 

I think that's ideal for cutting, especially if you take into account that there will be cardio involved (x4 per week at least). I also decided to stop eating pork, lamb, beef and all kids of red meat. Well, on my cheat days I will probably eat them, but you know what I mean. Once per week is nothing!

What I haven't decided yet is if I should eat chicken or salmon. I know some may say that both are super-foods and good for your health blah blah. That's true, but that's not my aim. I am not doing a 5-month diet but a 6-week one and I have to pick one. I don't want to eat both of them. 

So what do you suggest? This...

Now to the chase ! Don't do cheat meals till the 4th week , drop the animal fat for 2 weeks and go with plant fats ONLY dont be a pussy :P , forget the dairy products, or if you just can't live with out them pick cottage cheese 2,5%.
Since you wanna go with chicken or fish , have you tried at the past to eat just chicken or fish ? Because its revelant what is best for your body , meaning what type of protein is more assimilation for you !
Now i know this type of diet is a little bit too much , but since your workouts are limited for now you must go nuts with your diet if you wanna see some decent results !
Your cardio sessions must be x6 per week and equal or longer than 40min (HIIT ) If you wanna go LISS 60+ min .

I forgot to mention my man: I will eat 10 nuts as δεκατιανό and 10 almonds as απογευματινό (for the belly fat). Yeah, no dairy products man, just low fat milk (I can't eat oatmeal with water. I dunno how some do this) and I will ανάλατη μυζήθρα once per week with brown pasta (very small portion). Yeah, I have tried going with chicken only and tuna/sardines and salmon. When I competed, I preferred the fish because of the fats they made me feel stronger and healthier. With the chicken only diet I felt weak and dizzy.

Keep in mind, however, that back then I would have to lose weight in super-fast times and I burned a MAD amount of calories during training sessions. It wasn't easy. I don't have this problem now as I don't have to train in order to compete and fight. I can't do x6 cardio right now bro. I am still in mild pain. My physio actually says that with 4 days per week I am stretching it.

And believe it or not, cheat meals HELP ME big time! My metabolism needs a shock to work properly. But you're right, cheat meals from first week is a bit too much, huh? LOL

Skip pasta and find some protein pasta if its all about pasta ! When you done with your recovery ill give you a porn-star level diet plan xD

That’s how I try to eat as a basic rule of thumb. So that I can just cheat as necessary.

As for the battle of Solomos vs Kotopoulos...

To be honest. I say eat both If you have access to both and one’s not too much more cost wise than the other (if that’s even a factor). For variety.

Or just salmon. Depending on where you get it from farmed vs wild caught. I dunno how that works in Greece. Personal preference is salmon tho. I like the way it tastes.

(But chicken is good too... xexe )

Well I would choose the salmon for many reasons: The salmon is rich in omega 3, a natural oil that is recommended for cardiovascular diseases, also is good for your brain and has other benefits, I like its flavor and actually in my country it's not a common meal because it's very expensive.

I have done in the past and lost weight doing keto. So I am all about those good good fats! Salmon and Omega-3 supporter here. Chicken is good but salmon will keep you full!

True that bro. I lean towards salmon too but I think of all the protein chicken offers too. I don't wanna lose much weight. 7 kg maximum (1 per week would be perfect). What I wanna do is make my metabolism run faster and change the fat-muscle ratio in my physique. That's why I will focus on nutrition and cardio for 6 weeks and start lifting later on (when I will be eating chicken, turkey and eggs regularly). Makes sense?

Changing your body composition is a long term play..
If you wanna pump your metabolism get some Iodiane supp like Kelp,
Don't look your weight instead use a mirror and get where you wanna go, scales are fucking useless !

Well but changing one's body composition depends on his/her background too, no? I am definitely not in the shape or physique I was when I was 20, 25 or even 30 but you would be surprised how "much" muscle is under the fat, bro lol. This is my starting point.

I will post again a photo in 8 weeks and you will not believe in your eyes (and I won't be using any supplements. Just cardio, lifting weights and healthy nutrition). If in 8 weeks I don't look like Bruce Lee then I have failed :P he he (I am kidding about the Bruce thing. I was never as skinny). Don't underestimate the natural built muscle of nearly 25 years under the fat bro. It will resurface one day :P he he he

You should eat chicken and I give you the reason here and now.
Even if it doesn't make you feel very strong, you still want to taste something nice in your very strict diet and try to put some fantasy in your meals.
Now chicken has a weak taste that goes with everything, from pasta to veggies, from sandwich to pan fried. Salmon has a very intense flavour and it is hard to combine, also you will get tired of it very quick.
Can you not alternate 1 week of chicken with 1 week of salmon?

One week salmon and one week chicken sounds like a brilliant idea actually ;)
