Hello! Good evening @the.foodini
Here's my entry an affordable dish that is easy to cook.It is a favourite
FILIPINO dishes most especially to the poor people. We can easily produce and buy the ingredients. It is called "PANSIT" made from a rice stick, meat or chicken, shrimps and vegetables like carrots ,cabbage, beans and bell pepper. And of course it will not taste good without garlic, onions and black pepper.

Every Christmas, we were always making like this. The only affordable that we eat and share with our neighbors..
Thank you so much.

Have a joyous Holiday and fruitful Year 2019!

Lechon or Roasted Pig

LOCATION: Cebu City, Philippines

Cebu is popularly known for good taste Lechon or roasted pig. This lechon was prepared by my mother's cousin. He is well known in our place for cooking tasty lechon with crispy skin. He puts many spices inside the tummy of the pig. To name a few of the spices are spring onions and garlic. He season it with salt. Then stitched the opening in the tummy to secure the stuffings inside. After that, roast the pig using charcoal. The pig is rotated many times until it is cooked.

Whatever the occasion is, lechon is always present in the celebration, be it fiestas, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, baptism, reunions, graduation, Noche buena and Media noche.

Philippines is known to have the longest Christmas. When September comes, you will feel that Christmas is in the air. The radio stations starts playing Christmas melodies and jingles. Then the people starts to decorate Christmas trees, colorful lanterns, colorful lights, wreaths and other Cristmas decorations like Belens. Then you will hear children singing Christmas Carols in the neighborhood. Also the giving of presents to our loved ones. We also have the SIMBANG GABI, its a mass at dawn..for 9 consecutive days. Then on Christmas eve..the family eats together in Noche Buena. Thats how Filipinos celebrate the birth of our Savior.
