GETTING PURPLE SWEET POTATOES READY TO PLANT

in #food5 years ago

This will be our first year growing these!!!

After receiving some Purple Sweet Potatoes from Sapper Gardener (Essayons Family Garden) I thought it best to start getting some ready to plant. In this video I talk about the process I use, share about how some others do it, and show some Purple Sweet Potatoes at various stages of development.

Ironically I am allergic to purple potatoes, I don't understand it as I can eat all other types of potatoes but every time I have tried to eat purple potatoes I have a severe allergic reaction. Not nearly as bad as the ones I have when I eat onions but it makes me sad because both are good but for some reason my body doesn't like them....

I am a bit jealous. We aren't even planning to host any library programs about starting seeds indoors until mid-April or early May.

Wow, I bet. There are times when I really wouldn't even put most plants into my garden until the 1st of June back in Wisconsin. Hang in there!

purple sweet potato is a very delicious food. You can cook it in various ways, broiled, fried, boiled or even eaten raw as well. What we must pay attention to after eating sweet potatoes will usually fart more often.
what's more interesting is that sweet potato leaves can be cooked. it could be delicious processing. be a salad, or even soup from sweet potatoes. sometimes we cook it even for a mixture of soup noodles. This leaf is also preferred by livestock. we also use it here to feed the goats. if in Bali it becomes pig feed.
In our country to plant does not need to grow from purple yams, just by cutting the stems and making cuttings then we allow a few days to grow roots and immediately ready to be planted.

I am proud to know you with various activities related to nature, farming, gardening and everything makes me proud.
Thank you @papa-pepper
Warm regard from Indonesia

@papa-pepper this made me to remember how mucj i love sweet potatoes a lot. But actually i did not know how the purple one taste like

Hey Papa Pepper @papa-pepper I'm finally back online after what seems like forever. Mostly because I just didn't have internet connection. Finally got up enough money to afford a US Cellular phone which lets me get a connection way out here in the middle of the Ozarks of Southern Missouri.
Anyways probably don't remember, but i met you at the Bakersville Seed fair, took a pic with ya and met all of your little peppers and introduced you to mine.
Anyways nice to see ya going strong, gonna check out your vid later when i have more time.

I do remember you! How have you been? I hear you on internet connection. The stuff I got usually takes hours to load a video, and up to a half hour for photos... which I'm waiting on right now.

I'm using my phone as a hotspot for my computer. Not very fast, but it will eventually get the job done. Not sure what works best where you are at, but US Cellular works best here in southern Missouri

Always nice to learn something new...I didn't know you could snap those stocks off and they will root and give you another plant! Nice!

I bought some interesting sweet potatoes from the Asian market a couple of years ago. Sadly I never got them in the ground because we went on vacation and when we got back they had all passed away.

Jejeje, it was a so funny but it will never die quickly.
