Lockdown Bread: Triple Seed and Oat for super health!

in #food5 years ago

It's Lockdown. Times are grim. Times are hard.

But what better to keep our danders up in these tough times than some super healthy, energy boosting bread?

Get your fingers ready for a kneading with the very splendid, three seed, oat and honey bread!

It really has everything. 40% less salt, pumpkin, sunflower, mustard seeds, honey and healthy oats!

Let's get stuck in

You will need

300 grams of strong white flour
200 grams of wholemeal flour
100 grams of oats
60 grams of sunflower seeds
40 grams of pumpkin seeds
2 teaspoons of black mustard seeds
380mls of tepid water
A right big squirt of honey
A glug of rapeseed or olive oil
6 grams of salt
7 grams of quick action yeast

To make

Toast your pumpkin and sunflower seeds lightly for a couple of minutes on a medium heat to make them taste toasty awesome.

Soak your oats in the tepid water for twenty minutes

Measure out your wholemeal and regular flour as well as your yeast, salt and sprinkle your mustard seeds in too.

After the twenty minutes add the oil and honey to your soaky oaty mix.

Then the flours and the toasted seeds join the big soaky, oaty party! Now give everything a mini knead inside your big bowl

Cover and leave your dough to sit for an hour

Give it another knead for five minutes (you don't have to if you hate kneading just flatten it and fold it back up) then cover and leave again

Forty odd minutes later and you should have a big mama like this

Get your oven on at 200 degrees and fold your dough into a big fat cigar, place it on a baking tray

Once the oven is hot enough slash the top and bake for thirty minutes!!

After which you will pull this out, let it cool on a cooling rack

Now slice it.

Have it with your favourite things!! Or just have it straight!! Yum!!!

Enjoy!

Bread looks very beautiful. But we shouldn't consume too much bread.

That is true, there is the danger we would turn into ducks!! :0)

Where were you last week when I had no bread for my cheese and Marmite!?

I was up to my eyes in dough in the bitter North!!

My missus is over the moon that we have fresh bread every day, lol

That bread really turned out great!!
We started with our first day of lock-down (out of 21 days) here in South Africa today!! There is still a long way ahead!!

We are a week in, it gets dull remarkably quickly!

Heres to an uneventful three weeks!

Looks fabulous!

I've regained my bread making chops! I'm waiting for my sourdough starter to be ready!

Look here, Betty Crocker! I thought it was Saturday and was looking for beer! But, yes! I had no idea you could cook! I expect more recipes now.

Great job and it looks yummy!!

Upped and steemed

!tip

Haha, I can cook indeed. I used to be all about the steem cooking. I won competitions and everything! Lol

Well, color me quiet! Really? Post some more in between the Boom "stuff!" Oh, wait! Today is Saturday! Do we get to do beer today?

It's beer on Hive today!

Woo-hoo!!!! I'm in!

def gonna make this cuz i have all those ingredients!....but first, i've got to convert all those measurements ;-)

Oh I know how awful that is because I have to do the same when it's all cup this and cup that!!

my daughter has been begging me to get a kitchen scale so we can do the gram thing...she says is far superior!

Don't get a digital one, they keep switching off as you are measuring! I do like the accuracy though!

haha lockdown bread. i am tried making bread at home but i not get the taste like bakery. Nice post

I will have to put up my basic bread recipe which is almost guaranteed to taste just like a bakery!!

that's great waiting for it. ☻

@meesterboom great recipe and I wish I had access to a good oven. I just started a weekly "Stay at home" cooking contest. If you add the link of this blog in the comments section of my post, you will be eligible:

Thank you very much! This is a reworking of an old post so I wouldn't apply for your contest being an honourable chap. I hope it goes well though!

fair enough, but if you do decide to cook again, please feel free to enter and share with us. Cheers :)

I will indeed, cheers!

This is ever so serious, has someone hacked your account? ;)

A right big squirt of honey

The most important bit... by far.

Hahaha!! A departure from my norm. These are among my first posts! Just updated a tad to fit in with current events!

It might be an idea to showcase some of my early stuff that got one vote! Better than cross-posting I suppose!

I think that's the best way, it is better!

hey boomie...in the non-sequiter department....SInce blocktrades is gone, can you recommend a trustworthy account to convert steem to BTC so I can put in coinbase wallet? blocktrades used to convert for me.

There are two that I use mostly and that is binance and bittrex.

However there is a new ish exchange https://ionomy.com/en/markets/btc-steem

Which is quite good and easy. Nothing as easy as blocktrades though!

Ah!! I thought it was just a steem Hive pairing but I see it's not!! Cheers, lass!

thanks, i'll look into it. I"m always nervous to click on new things (I suppose this question should have been posted on your crypto post which I just finished reading ;0) ANyway, on my steem wallet when i click "sell" it goies to poloniex. But don't feel like you have to hand-hold, i'll figure it out.

If you use an exchange it's usually just a case of sending to the account with the relevant memo. I wouldn't go near poloniex as it's hard to use and sometimes very slow.

I know what you mean about the links thing. That new exchange ionomy is the one that is listing hive and is quite popular with the young uns just now :0)
