Simple foods, like a schnitzel (chicken escalope, whatever you call it), can also be served in a fancy manner sometimes. Add a little nicely cut vegetables, some herbs, a thinly grated cheese on top, and you're right on the spot. If the food is good, it helps even more than if it's only beautiful.

And, of course, what kind of self-respecting French restaurant (or any restaurant in France, almost no matter the type of cuisine they serve) would neglect adding a sliced baguette next to... well, next to everything?

Ah, the French. We love them so.
