Fight Against Monsanto Not Over Yet
In a surprising decision this week that's making headlines around the world, Monsanto has been found guilty and is being ordered to pay roughly $289 million in damages.
The penalty and final jury decision stems from a lawsuit that had been previously launched by plaintiff Dewayne Johnson, who was arguing that it was Monsanto's products that had contributed to him being diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma.
Johnson's case is just one of thousands of other potential cases that will be looking to have Monsanto finally pay up.
Monsanto can obviously afford to drag this on and they will be looking to appeal this verdict and that means that it could take years for Johnson to see any money, he doesn't think he has that many years left.
They might be successful later on in their appeal, but to avoid paying any penalty to any victims who have lawsuits against them, they will have to continue that streak of success for many cases to come--thousands of them.
Monsanto still denies that their products cause cancer and they insist that there are more than enough studies available to support this.
For those who are looking for Monsanto to finally be held accountable, they are hoping that this recent decision will help to strengthen the fight of those other cases moving forward and they are hopefull that they will see the company eventually pay up.
Bayer still says glyphosate is safe...
Glyphosate and other Monsanto products have been sprayed on American crops for decades now, as well as in many regions worldwide. It's alleged that Roundup Ready crops account for the majority of soybean, corn, and cotton crops that are grown today.

I guess it's definitely a step in the right direction, but it always seems like there are so many miles to go. Makes me sit and wonder where we went wrong? How did we allow these juggernauts of destruction to become what they are, in the first place? They started somewhere; and at some point someone "looked the other way" or was bribed or something...
I just hope people keep pounding away at them.
It makes me think about all this my father is a small producer and planting a few hectares every year, nowadays my father has lost a lot of weight and he has been studied because nothing comes out and now he is told that it has to be done other tests for the use of glyphosate that supposedly gives cancer and that worries us
Yay! Thanks for the news!

It is good to see them finally being held accountable.
Interesting news, something I read about this
Greetings from Venezuela
They knew, and sold it anyway. If they are destroyed by those they have hurt; it will be poetic justice, as well as the ultimate Irony.
:D
Interesting news friend, thanks for sharing.🎉🎉
Bayer is monsanto now ...bet they just left enough in monsanto for the law suites and the blame ..the bulk has been laundered through the sale to bayer ..leaving the wealth safely moved out of harms way ...
