Ulog #54: Misua with Chicken & Mushroom Ginger Garlic Broth
Had 'Misua' for lunch today that my mum cooked for the family. We had it with a delicious chicken and mushroom broth.
So what is 'Misua'?
Misua (also spelled mee sua or miswa) are a very thin variety of salted noodles made from wheat flour. It originated in Fujian, China.
There's endless types of soup/broth that this could go with. Whether it's chicken, pork, beef, fish, other various seafood or just potatoes and some vegetables, the limit is basically just how far your imagination can go.
The one we had today was a chicken and mushroom broth with garlic and ginger as the aromatics. The mushrooms were dried Chinese mushrooms so it really packs a lot of flavor and gives the broth and soup a lot of depth eventhough it's just a few ingredients.
Best to use chicken thighs and drumsticks for this meal because it goes really well with the noodles and if it's chicken breast it would go a little dry since it's in a soup and it wouldn't be suitable for a dish like this.
You could do pork meatballs or prawn and pork meatballs with this. I think it'll go really well with this. Ahh this is giving me ideas!
