THE WEEK LATE GARDEN UPDATE!
Always Busy!
Ok, it's been a busy couple of weeks and work, garden, house, kids and grand-kids are keeping me running wide open. The garden is doing really well, I’m basically having to pick every day. Here are a couple of days’ worth of fresh veggies.
This one I waited a few days on picking because of rain.
Rain
We’ve had quite a lot of rain over the last couple weeks, which has made working in the garden a couple of days unwise. I say unwise, I could go work in the garden, get drenched and wade in mud but I decided to skip a couple of days.
Everything is coming in well, we’ve been able to pick a couple of small tomatoes, and the cucmbers are starting to pick up a lot. We’ve also started picking some green beans, didn’t to a lot of beans this year because we still have some left from last year. (canned 104 quarts last year)
Way too much Squash
It turns out I was right in my last post(here), we have waaaayyy too much Squash. We have given it to neighbors, co-workers, family and friends, and still have more than we really need at the moment. Especially since our oldest kids moved out with the Grand kids, and our youngest daughter is in Uganda on a mission trip.
Trying to eat that much squash has been interesting. We’ve fried it, boiled it, stir-fried with peppers and onions, made casseroles, made zucchini bread, froze some, etc. My wife did find a couple new ways, that we had not tried before, like squash patties. I think I’m going to do another post on a couple of the recipes that my wife has used this year. BTW Zucchini Bread is awesome for breakfast with a large cup of coffee. (yes that would mean I’m eating squash for breakfast….)

WOW thats a good crop and wow tose clouds look so ominous
Yes they were, and the storms were pretty rough. I had literally just finished mowing the yard and cleaning up from the last one and ended up with sticks all over the yard again.
