Döner Kebab (how-to recipe / Tutorial Rezept)🌶🔥 - with a little bit history - und ein bisschen Geschichte 😀

Looking back a few years, it looks as if Doner Kebab was invented in 1972 in Berlin.

Kadir Nurman was the first who pack kebab meat into a flatbread and is thus considered by many to be the inventor of kebab in Germany.

When Kadir Nurman came to Germany with other numerous guest workers from Turkey, he quickly realized that many people like to eat fast food while running or directly out of their hands. So he put kebab meat into a flat bread and sold the creative idea in 1972 in a snack bar at the Berlin Bahnhof Zoo. In the meantime, a lot has happened and there are estimated in Germany about 16,000 kebap kiosks.

The kebab is just as popular nowadays as the currywurst or hamburger. :-)

Kadir Nurman also later invented the typical doner kebab, unfortunately he never patented it so he could be quickly copied by other immigrants.

Wenn wir ein paar Jahre zurückblicken sieht es so aus, als ob Döner Kebab 1972 in Berlin erfunden worden ist.

Kadir Nurman packte als Erster das Dönerfleisch in ein Fladenbrot und gilt damit bei vielen als Erfinder des Döners in Deutschland.

Als Kadir Nurman mit anderen zahlreichen Gastarbeitern aus der Türkei nach Deutschland gekommen war, hat er schnell bemerkt, dass viele Menschen gerne schnelles Essen (Fast Food) im Laufen oder direkt aus den Händen verzehren. Also steckte er Dönerfleisch in ein Fladenbrot und verkaufte die kreative Idee 1972 in einer Imbissbude am Berliner Bahnhof Zoo. In der Zwischenzeit hat sich einiges getan und es gibt in Deutschland geschätzt etwa 16.000 Dönerrestaurants.

Der Döner ist heutzutage übrigens genau so beliebt wie die Currywurst oder Hamburger. :-)

Kadir Nurman hat auch später den typischen Dönerschpieß erfunden, leider ließ er ihn nie patentieren so konnte er schnell von anderen Einwanderern kopiert werden.

But today we want to prepare our own doner kebab, so let's examine what ingredients we need.

Over the years, the kebab has also evolved and now includes salad, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, hot chillies and of course delicious (spicy) sauce.

Aber heute wollen wir ja unseren eigenen Döner zubereiten, also lasst uns prüfen welche Zutaten wir benötigen.

In all den Jahren hat sich der Döner weiterentwickelt und beinhaltet mittlerweile Salat, Zwiebeln, Tomaten, Gurken, scharfe Peperonis und natürlich leckere (scharfe) Sauce.

I bought fresh meat from the butcher and crispy bread today for my homemade doner kebab.

The bread you should toast in the first step and sear the meat with a little oil.

Ich habe mir heute für meine selbstgemachten Döner frisches Fleisch beim Fleischer und knuspriges Brot gekauft.

​Das Brot solltet ihr im ersten Schritt toasten und das Fleisch mit etwas Öl anbraten.

You can easily expand the bread and fill something by hand, so you have more closeness and love to the meal. :-)

I have never eaten a kebab! I think I am missing out on something really delicious. It looks like there are spices on the meat when you fry it up. What types of spices do you use and what type of meat?

You should really do :-) and eat soon one. Classic meat is from mutton. In Germany you can get often beef or chicken. I cheated a bit and buyed some pork., unfortunately I don’t know the spices mix. It’s a secret from the local butcher 😀

Ich kann mir nicht helfen, in schwarzweiß sieht es irgendwie fies aus.

Ich nehm auch gern immer mit allem :-) jaaaaa das s/w was eigentlich Sepia sein soll 🤓😀, soll das Zeitgeschehen zur oberen kurzen Geschichte verdeutlichen 😅.... hoffe es verschreckt nicht. Wollte mal was anderes machen ✌️

That looks awesome. I can't say I'd ever really thought of using anything other than flatbread as the wrapping for a kebab. What a great idea. That would make it more filling too, I would assume?

Looks delicious man.
Here in Greece,we call the pork kebap "giros".
It's a must-eat if you ever visit.Every street has it's own fast food shop with "giros".
