Lima Bean respect day?

Let that sink in for a minute.

April 20th is LIMA BEAN RESPECT DAY.

Bwahahahahahaha! 🤣

In all fairness, it is also National Pineapple Upside Down Cake Day. But that is just going to have to wait. This is just too much.

I mean, I guess we could blame it on the fact it's 4-20, but when was the last time you saw someone smoke a joint and go "daaayum I want some lima beans"!?!?!?! 🤤

I could honor the cake...but man, apparently them limas just aren't getting the respect they deserve!

Since I am all about respect, I just could not stand for this travesty to occur and not do something about it. Not on my watch, no sir-ree-bob.

I mean daaaaaamn people, these are legumes. LEGUMES!

Just say the word...le-gyumes. It's even fun to say.

They go by so many other names...butter beans, sieva beans, Madagascar beans; not to mention Phaseolus lunatus. Hell, in some parts of the states, people might have a heart attack if I don't mention they're also referred to as Dixie beans or Henderson beans. (I'm lookin' at you kids in the South!)

Whatever you call them, they got their name because people were pretty uninventive back in the day. See, they were shipped from Lima, Peru, so obviously since that's what was written on the box, that's what they were called right? Address be damned!🙄

Plus you can do so much with them. Put salt on 'em. Put butter on 'em. Lemon pepper, garlic powder, you name it. Throw some ham in 'em or bacon or some other pig part and call 'em dinner.

Or, you can do what this lovely lady has done, which I must admit, I have never seen anyone do with lima beans:

Another thing I have not done with lima beans is make a curry out of them, but that is exactly what our next featured Steemian has done:

They both come together in a flash and they are both good for vegetarians and meat lovers alike.

Granted, all the carnivores (including me!) would have to BYOM, but hell, I'm good with that.

So, take THAT, lima bean respect day, because these two ladies damn sure respect these legumes!
