Previously, in an earlier post, I shared another reunion dinner in this post:

This time the reunion dinner was with the in-laws. Again, we have dinner outside on the eve of Lunar New Year. Of course, the restaurants who serve dinner on the eve will charge you more but there is usually another restriction. You have to go in shifts. Some extend to 3 shifts in that evening. We booked for the first shift at 5:30pm but they told us we could go as early as 5pm. So, we make sure we go early because there were limited parking lots.

这一次团年饭是与太太娘家。我们还是在除夕晚除外吃。当然，在除夕夜还做生意就收你贵一点。其实，通常还有其他限制。你必须”轮班“。有些在那天晚上还搞到3个班次。我们预订了第一班在下午5:30，但他们告诉我们，我们可以在下午5点到。所以，为了确保有位停车就早点去。

We were not the only one. There were people already there doing what people do nowadays while waiting or passing time, i.e., fondling their mobile device.

Many red lanterns were hung as decorations.

Our table number was 88 - an auspicious number because 8 sounds like 发 which means getting rich.

Dinner Time | 晚餐时间

We already ordered a set dinner last month.

早在一个月前已经订了套餐。

Starting with the Yushen dish, the waiter added in the remaining ingredients saying some auspicious words to wish us a good year.

还是由鱼生开始。服务员先将其他配料加进去一边说些好话祝贺现年好。

Now that the crispy stuff that represents gold is sprinkled on, it’s time to toss….

最后倒进这脆脆的代表黄金满地。可以开始。。。

Toss, toss, toss… for good money making opportunities throughout the year.

Deep fried Soon Hock fish.

Conclusion | 结论

The total price for the dinner was $456.70 inclusive of tax and service charge. Probably won’t choose this place for reunion dinner in future. Their normal dinner is something I will go for. Personally, I think the set should have both the pork knuckles and stewed pork and buns. It should be either one or the other. Generally, the food was still quite OK but the dessert is totally lame.
