Girls with muscles are sexy - 5 Reasons to start lifting weights

in #fitness6 years ago

Afraid to lift weights because you are scared you will look manly? There is absolutely no reason to be scared to lift weights as a woman. In fact, lifting weights will help you shape your feminine body, accentuate your curves and… yes lose fat!Basically a female body is by design not able to get the muscular manly look, since a woman has on average about one tenth of the most important hormone for muscle creation: testosterone. Also, just because you have visible muscles this does not make you look like a man BUT it will make you look like a strong and athletic women who takes care of herself and respects her body. Even if you are really happy with your body shape, and feel confident about it.. I can guarantee you that lifting weights will only improve that feeling you have about yourself, and if you start in time your body will thank you later on in your 40’s.

I'm not saying you have to grow big biceps, or having a visible sixpack.. but don’t tell me you wouldn’t like to give your booty a lift, or having your legs toned to rock those heels for example? Nothing wrong with that. We all want to look good, and guess what? We can do whatever we want as long as we have determination and the inner strength to fight for it.

"Lifting weights will not make us manly? So how about those bodybuilder women ?"– First of all those are usually PROFESSIONAL ATHLETES and I can assure you they work their asses off for years, both dieting and working out. In order to achieve that level, they have to leave their social live behind, since their commitment is mainly to work out, eat and rest. Yes, these women don’t achieve that body type by only lifting weights and being dedicated, they need to take other paths – taking some substances to help them achieving that level of muscular growth. Again, those are generally professional athletes, that don't just simply lift weights. Let me put this in another way… do you think that women from any other sports such as volleyball, swimming, gymnastics, olympic athletes, etc. in general look like men? In my opinion they don't. In fact, I think most of them look super hot.

And guess what, most of them lift heavy weights! Now, there are different goals we can pursue when talking about lifting and each one of us has to define their own goals. For example a lifting routine for a volleyball player will not be the same as a swimmer and the reason is simple... different goals. They both work out out every part of their bodies (arms, legs, abs, back, shoulders) but with different intensity and focus as their goals are not the same. ATTENTION! Lifting alone will not suffice. Oh snap, you will have to keep your diet on track in order to optimise your results. Working out without a proper diet, I’m sorry but this will prove to be inefficient.
So now back to the topic.... Why should women and girls not be afraid to lift weights? In fact.... why should you start lifting today?

1. YOU WILL BE STRONG BUT NOT A HULK
As I briefly explained before you will not become a hulk from night to day, and also you would have to take some substances to achieve that level. And no we are not talking about whey protein. Also lifting will not make you gain weight, at least not 'bad' weight.… Fat has more volume than musclemass, which is the same as saying that muscles are more dense than fat.

So if you start lifting weights, your diet is on point and still you gained weight this is definitely not a bad sign at all as there are high chances of you losing fat and gaining muscle. It can also happen that for example your starting weight is 60kg and after a month working out you still weigh 60kg. Don’t think all your work was not worth it as you should not track your results based on the scale, instead you should take your measurements and loads of pictures at the same time of the day, preferably in the morning and with the same light if possible. Why? Because probably you will realize you lost inches, and by taking pictures you can judge your own results by comparing them. Another tip is checking your clothes, how they used to fit and how they fit now. Be aware that at some point your muscles will start growing and this does not mean you are getting the hulk look, instead your body is shaping those curves, so don’t stress if those jeans are not fitting on your hamstrings for example. Again, muscles weigh more than fat and if your diet is on point and you do work hard during your workouts, your body will respond positively to you.

2. MORE MUSCLE LESS WEIGHT
Yes, the more muscle you build the more fat your body will burn. In another words, you will be losing fat and shaping your feminine body as I explained before. When you lose weight without working out you are actually losing muscle and this is not a good sign if you think about your health in general. You don’t need to lose weight on the scale, what you need it to lose fat and as a result you will look skinnier even if your bodyweight increases. Here we need to clarify one thing… even if your goal is to be toned or muscular, either ways you have to lift hard. Results will come slowly and if you track your progress by measuring yourself and looking at pictures, you will be able to see what do you like or not about how your body is getting shaped. By doing this, you can adapt your lifting routines and shape your body the way you want. One tip: Don’t overtrain only one area of your body otherwise you will end up with a disproportional look. Lets say you really want to build up a round booty with toned legs, you can emphasize this part of your body, but you should not neglected your upperbody as it is the about the whole package.

3. SLEEP BETTER, FEEL MORE ENERGIZED
This is another big advantage of working out in general. You will fall asleep easier and you will also wake up easier and feeling more energetic during the day. It will also help on reducing how often you wake up during the night. Also, having your sleep on track will help you losing weight. No, this is not a fake advertisement. When we are a sleep even though our body is resting, it is at the same time still burning calories. By skipping your sleep you might experience being hungrier and apart from that being more hours awake leads to more time to eat, which if you don’t follow a proper diet, might end in a disaster. You have to find a balance, some people need 9 hours to be at their best, some might only need 6 hours for example which is okay as long as you are aware of this and it actually works for you. There are many other aspects to consider when skipping your sleep such as the lack of energy you will have during the day, your stress level will be higher and it will affect your metabolism as well. Take your rest and your body will pay you back.

4. GOODBYE STRESS!
How many of you get home after work feeling stressed? Running a house, taking care of kids can be a stressful task, but it doesn’t have to be like this. Everybody can manage an hour a day to work out (if not, you might want to consider starting a passive income stream). If you have one hour to watch television, you also have time to work out. Even if you can’t afford going to the gym, there is no excuse, you can build you own mini gym at home and still work hard. What you need is the power of will. Lifting weights can be a way to escape from your daily problems and a place to use all your stress or anger and at the same time profiting from it. Use all of that in something positive for yourself. Lifting weights will release your stress levels and as a result you will feel happier – this will also improve your sleep.

5. IT'S FUN
Lifting weights is fun. Maybe hard to imagine now, but I've seen a lot of people that went from never going to the gym to turning into real gymrats. Why? Because lifting can be a lot of fun. The release of hormones during workout will give you a good feeling, seeing your body slowly becoming strong will give you an extra confidence boost and nothing beats being strong and sexy at the same time.
