Let's Build Out the Fitness Category on Steemit!

in #fitness8 years ago

Some very brief thoughts on building out the #fitness category on Steemit, a blockchain-based Runkeeper app, and a thank you to my followers.

Tuesday morning, August 9th.

This is something I need severe improvement on. I'm not in good shape. Haven't been since high school, frankly. Maybe I could do the first Steemit Before/After. I've got one hell of a "before". lol

Dude I'm the same way! I just started changing my diet a few days ago, and will be taking pics once a week! Maybe a month or two in I'll have to post them all on a Steemit post!

Awesome! Glad to see this is starting to come together. :)

Rad. Yeah let's do this. :)

Man, go for it! That would be a great series to follow. Get your before picture up and you could start the first biggest loser challenge on Steemit! Great idea!

Alright, you've convinced me. I am now on the path to the first "fit" me in 20 years ago.

Love it! Keep us posted.

You know...if nothing else has motivated me...
Steemit has been my motivation for a lot of things in the past month that I never would've otherwise been motivated to do. Hm..... wheels are turning.

awesome ;) This is exactly what we need along with some healthy recipes :) :P

Follow my wife's blog for some great recipes! https://steemit.com/@corinnestokes

It's all coming!

I'll be adding yoga classes soon.

I teach Hatha and Vinyasa flow yoga, Meditation and Pranayama to men and women of all age ranges and abilities.

My offerings are classes that range from gentle, restorative, yin based styles, often favoured by those less mobile and physically able, to strong, challenging practices that are perfect for the demands of people who seek an effective means of unloading from other sports, strength and conditioning programmes that they undertake.

My Pranayama and Meditation sessions always seem to be well received too.

I'm looking forward to contributing and helping build the #fitness category, amongst others.

Have you seen Yoga with Adriene on YouTube? My wife and I were doing that for a while... but I think I messed up my back doing it wrong. :(

I haven't seen her yet @lukestokes. I will check her out.

Proper alignment and technique are vital foundations for any practice, and we are all made up in different proportions and with different strengths and weaknesses .

That's why with Yoga Asana it's always best to physically see a teacher when you're starting out. So that they can make sure you embark on your journey through Asana safely.

Sent you an upvote, thanks for sharing and promoting fitness! It definitely needs some building!

Thanks! What do you think of video content? I'm not sure how often I'll do them, but they are quick to put together, especially when I have other things I have to get done. They feel more personal as well.

It's good. The way you talk is very personable, and it's not boring to listen to you. Some people you watch and you wonder how anyone could listen to them for more than a few seconds, but that's not the case with you. If I were you I'd do videos on anything you want to! Videos seem to get better reception here than just pictures. :)

Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

This is what we need more of on here! Excited to see where this goes. I am young but still suffer from laziness, so I could use a little help here too.

I think we call could. It's fun to see communities come together for their shared benefit. I love it.

Look at that, inspiring people already!

That's what this platform is all about.

I'm a big fitness fan. So...just tag fitness?

It's not just about tagging fitness, but about publishing really great #fitness content and building a community around that category. A weight loss challenge, a regular accountability group tag, workout progress reports... There are endless possibilities!

Endless possibilities indeed, but we need people to gather around.

I started two new tags today, and hoping the same...but will people come?

I will certainly write some fitness stuff, i'm on my own journey towards SWOLE here :))

Very good point. Also I don't like running either. That's why I just do fast walking!

Do you get a similar workout? I guess any movement is good movement.

Yes. Once you get to the borderline between walking and running it actually becomes more mechanically inefficient to keep walking. It is surprisingly strenuous as a workout and you can really get your heart rate up.

For people who actually need to lose weight walking is the best way to do it. Running is likely to bring your heart rate up so that you burn protein instead of fat. For people who are unfit walking should get your heart rate up just high enough to burn fat. People should only start running after jogging becomes too easy and only start jogging if walking is too easy.

Looking forward to see that fitness category growing ;-)
