Very first fish!

Today I decided to take Luke out to get a new fishing rod. There is an awesome local store called Angling Sports.

It is no bass pro shop but it is awesome. We were able to get a new fishing rod and reel set for a great price.

After spending hours in that store... we headed out to the local trout farm. I have been there before and they have a large pool like structure stocked with fish. It is a guaranteed catch! Perfect for Luke's first time.

Little did I know that they had closed down this year and wouldn't be opening ever again. So some quick research was required and I found another spot within a 20 minute drive. It was more of a pond but at least we would be able to try out the new gear.

Unlike most kids Luke's favorite part was putting on the worms. In fact he enjoyed playing with them and had named one of them pinky by the end of the day. He made sure we didn't use pinky and brought him home with us.

We only fished for about an hour. We managed to catch two small fish that would have won any bass derby.

The trip must have been a success though as on the way home Luke asked to go fishing again "but next time at night because the man said you catch more fish then"

And that is my dad view on first fishing trip.
Next time out we will catch the shark!
