Flowerhorn Fish as Pets

Few years ago I started taking care of this kind of fish in a 10 gallon aquarium and got addicted to it that ended up setting up 30+ tanks and enclosures just for these fishes since the ratio for this is 1 tank per fish because they are very territorial which may end up to killing each other when placed together. They are very nice looking fishes with huge Kok (the nuchal hump or the head), very nice coloration and mysterious markings(colored black dirt like thing in their body) which is considered lucky marks by its owners specially the Chinese people.

What I love most from flowerhorn fishes is their deportment, they are very aggressive and it seems that they know you as their owner that they easily responds to hand gestures most specially during meal times LOL. These fishes can live in warm temperature and gets easily sick with cold water temperature.

Flowerhorn fishes are not created by nature and they are good results of hybridization which adds up to the excitement of this kind of hobby aside from Fish exhibits and competitions. During competitions fishes are graded by the looks and behavior.
