To me, the word Nokuro looks and sounds like Japanese. I have no idea why Nokuro design has the name it has, but what I do know is that Nokuro isn't a Finnish word. It doesn't mean anything. It could be because it's easy for a Finn to pronounce and it has the usual pattern: consonant, vowel, consonant, vowel -thing in it. (Not like tons of consonants and not a single vowel.) But then again to me, some Japanese words sometimes sound like Finnish. I have no idea if some Finnish words sound like Japanese to a person who speaks Japanese. Same goes with the tone of speaking. Exact pronunciation. Do I have any Japanese readers? Or people who speak and understand Japanese? How does Finnish sound like in Japanese ears? Or to everyone else who don't understand Finnish?

Here are few examples:
Jasper Pääkkönen (Actor in BlacKkKlansman and Vikings)
Invisible Heroes - Trailer (I hope you can spot the Swedish and don't think it's Finnish.)
Saara Forsberg

The word pöllö (owl) has few other meanings in Finnish language than an owl, the animal. Generally in stories owls are considered wise, but then again owls might also be a bit absent-minded or forgetful. Kinda like geniuses usually are. A bit out there, on a different wave length. So in Finnish, if you are talking that someone (not an animal, but a human) is vähän pöllö (a bit owl), that means that the person ain't quite on top of things. Perhaps a little funny or goofy too. But if you say that something is ei pöllömpää (not owly, not owlyly, not owlingly) Sorry, I invent these words as I write. it means that something isn't that bad at all. And when a Finn says that something isn't that bad at all, it means that that something is actually very good. Here's few sentences that have the word pöllö (owl) in it. And the translations.

Katso! Pöllö! = Look! An owl!
Pöllölasit = Glasses with huge frames.
Etkö sä pöllö tajua? = Don't you fool get it?
Ei pöllömmän makuista. = This tastes good.
Sinä olet ihan pöllö. = You are really silly / stupid.

Either way, I think owls are lovable and cute. Oh, so cute!

Anyway, anyone who's interested in owls better get their ass to Tampere quickly. Rather sooner than later. To Kehräsaari. (whorl island) !steemitworldmap 61.495827 lat 23.763969 long Owl, owlier, owliest d3scr

You can find the PikkuPutiikit on the inner courtyard of the buildings in Kehräsaari. There are few other shops, the movie theater Niagara, couple of restaurants and a Cafeteria. The winter photo was taken February 3rd 2019 and no, there's not this much snow in Tampere or in Kehräsaari anymore. It's spring and the trees have leaves. No snow.

Oh but wait a minute! Someone has written something on the snow.

Also on the other side of this small structure that has a Restaurant sign on it.

The writing says: "Mummu 70v." --> Gramma 70 years.

I can definitely recommend Stefan's Steakhouse. Prepare to enjoy good steaks and dig deep into your pockets.

On the background you can see the Tampere Stadium. And right beside the brick building, a pedestrian bridge.

The building in Kehräsaari is a former factory. Nowadays there are businesses like PikkuPutiikit and Restaurants, but before that, it was a dye factory. The H. Liljeroos web pages have no info in English, so I'll translated some of it's history for you.

In the early 1840s, Heikki Heikkilä sent his eldest son, 12-year-old Henrik Heikkilä, to Tampere to learn the profession of a dyer. In 1842, Henrik enrolled in a Sunday school student, where he was given the surname Liljeroos. He received the certificate from Isaak Josef Jungberg in 1847.

When the Verkatehdas of Tampere bankrupted in 1863 and got to the hands of the Bank of Finland, the factory was offered to Liljeroos, but the required price of 125,000 Finnish marks (Former Finnish currency) frightened Liljeroos because the years of shortage remained in fresh memory. Instead, Henrik Lileroos was interested in the location of the Renfors needlework factory in Renfors islands, which had bankrupted in the same year. The magistrate granted Henrik Liljeroos the right to set up a factory on this island. (The former Neula Island or Renfors Island gradually became Kehräsaari.)

The water run around the year was important to the factory. Rapids couldn't freeze down to the bottom. In 1873, Henrik Liljeroos attempted to prevent the freezing of water when discharging the ice formed in the freezing water. Henrik Liljeroos, who had already had a chest disease, got a cold and died only at the age of 44.

The factory was continued by Henrik Younger, Johan Henrik Liljeroos. "The factory took home-made fabrics for tamping, staining, semi-wool fabrics for ironing and cutting." In the great flood of 1899, the water penetrated the factory so that it had to stand for three months.

In 1929, the younger Henrik Liljeroos son Väinö Liljeroos, was elected CEO of the mill. In 1938, Väinö Liljeroos purchased the Kehräsaari, which had been owned by the City of Tampere. The factory was expanded by building a new two-storey factory building in the south of the area. The new machines had only been running for four days, when the air bombardment on January 20, 1940, damaged the factory badly.

At the turn of the 1970s, the industry began a downturn, which led to the company's poor financial condition. Demand for domestic wool yarns and competitiveness decreased when foreigners came to the market with cheap prices. The unprofitable wool spinning had to be discontinued. A new use was found and spaces were turned into a boutique and business center.

In the background of H. Liljeroos text and the five storey brick building, you can see a factory that is still working. Day and night. It's the Metsä Board Tako (metsä = forest) aka pasteboard factory of Tako.

Same place all the way from the other side of the Laukontori harbor. (Laukko square) Photo taken January 7th 2018. On the right, red brick apartment buildings and a bit further on the right(ish), Hotel Ilves. (ilves = lynx, bobcat)

Kehräsaari and H. Liljeroos where it says so, Hotel Ilves on the right and the big complex with all the windows and the octagon domes in it, is shopping centre Koskikeskus. (koski = rapid, keskus = centre) Photo taken January 28th, 2018.

P.S.
One extra photo because this post was already so owly. This photo is not from PikkuPutiikit, it's from a store called Clas Ohlson.
