A new mind numbing movie from Yorgos Lanthimos.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer is a dense movie wich unfolds very slowly and unpredictable.
Everything here seems strange and the viewer is left pretty much on his own as the dark story is told.
Relentless and atmospheric buildup until the end supported by great camerawork, editing and intense soundtrack.
The greatest selling point here for me war the awesome acting. It is one of my favourite Kidman performances of all times!
For sure not an easy watch. Pretty strange and uncomfortable for the viewer and it is possible that you will have open questions at the end. For me it was one of the films worth fighting through but I don't know if I have to watch it again in the near future. You can say I'm a Yorgos Lanthimos fanboy now. One of the "must see" of 2017.

Ein neuer gedankenbenebelnder Film von Yorgos Lanthimos.
The Killing of a Sacred Deer ist ein dichter Film, der sich nur langsam und unvorhersehbar aufbaut.
Alles hier scheint seltsam und der Zuschauer wird ziemlich alleine gelassen, während die düstere Geschichte voranschreitet.
Ein gnadenlos voranschreitender und extrem atmosphärischer Aufbau der sich bis zu Ende steigert.
Unterstützt wird das ganze von großartiger Kameraarbeit, Schnitt und einem intensiven Soundtrack.
Die größte Stärke sind für mich allerdings die schauspielerischen Leistungen. Eine meiner liebsten Kidman Darbietungen aller Zeiten!
Sicherlich nicht einfach anzusehen. Ziemlich merkwürdig und unbequem für den Zuschauer und es besteht die Chance, dass man am Ende mit offenen Fragen verbleibt. Für mich war es einer dieser Filme, die es wert waren, dass ich sie durchgehalten habe, auch wenn ich nicht weiß of ich ihn so schnell noch mal sehen muss.
Man kann schon sagen ich bin jetzt ein Yorgos Lanthimos fanboy. Definitiv ein "muss man sehen" aus 2017.
