Bitfilm of the Day, a New Exclusive Film Competition on Steemit (featuring @aaronkoenig as author)

I would like to invite you to participate in our new film competition “Bitfilm of the Day”, a Steemit exclusive. Every day we will present a film to the Steem community that we consider worthwhile watching. Every week day from Monday to Friday you will have the chance to vote for the films you like.

Every Sunday we will disclose the “Bitfilm of the Week”: the film that has received the highest number of votes in that week. As each film should have the same chance, only votes that are casted in the first 24 hours of a film’s launch count.

The money generated by your upvotes will fill a jackpot. 70% of it will go to the creator of the “Bitfilm of the Week”, the rest pays the work of the curator who selects and presents the films.

So whether you are a whale, a dolphin or a minnow, every vote has the same weight. Of course we would like some whales to cast their votes, as that means more money for the winning film maker, but the whales will not decide who wins.

Bitfilm Documentary 2009:

We have been organising digital film festivals and online film competitions for the last 15 years, but working with a new platform like Steemit is a new experience for us. We hope to attract many film makers to use Steemit, as it’s a great opportunity for making some money with their art. And we also want to please film fans who are looking for great content. So I suppose this can be an initiative that makes Steemit even more attractive.

Bitfilm Documentary 2006:

In the first weeks we will draw on the tradition of our Bitfilm Festival and show award winners and all-time favourites of our last festival editions. But in the long run we also want to present new films, possibly made by creative people from the Steemit community. So we are actively looking for film submissions. We also plan to organise events in cinemas where we present the “Bitfilms of the Week” of the last three months on a big screen. The weekly winner films compete for the title “Bitfilm of the Season”.

Online competitions are great to reach a large audience, but live events are unbeatable if you really want to get to know people and have a beer with them. We will probably organise the first event of this kind in our hometown Berlin, but it would be great to have events in other cities.
