Flowers
She clenched the flowers in her trembling hands, loath to abandon them to the cold earth. To lay them down would confirm the truth.
The nearby patch of grass comforted her — a certainty that one day she would rest alongside her love.
She lay the flowers down.
“Goodbye,” she wept.
