The Good Samaritan | #fiftywords
“Just ring if you need hel - ” The oak door slams faster than the sentence could complete itself. Snow falls. The old man leans on his cane. He hobbles next door.
Fire crackles. The neighbour reads News Daily with his morning coffee. Silence falls. He stares at the doorbell that never rang.
Finally back from Turkey and Israel - it's good to be home.
This is another entry for the 50 word writing challenge hosted by @jayna here. The prompt is "bells", but I hope doorbells are included in that definition.

Flash fiction is so difficult! I'm not sure if the old man and the neighbor are the same person here. Are there 3 characters or just the 2?
