in #fiction6 years ago

“So what movie are we going to watch?” Amber asked.
“Let’s go with what you want” Ruby suggested.
“I don’t actually know what movie is in the cinema right now. I don’t watch any movie trailer or anything like that in school.” Amber replied.
“Oh!" Ruby said. "If that the case, then let’s go see what movie is now showing and pick whichever pique our interest the most.”
“Sounds good.” Amber agreed.
“Let’s go check that map over there to see where the cinema is located or do you know where it is?” Amber added as she pointed her finger toward a monitor that is displaying an interactive map of the mall.
“I don’t know where the cinema is” Ruby answered.

They walked towards the monitor.

“Let’s see where’s the cinema is,” Amber said while her eyes moving from one edge of the screen to the other, left to right, top to bottom.
“Cinema, cinema, cinema” Amber repeatedly said the word cinema as if chanting to conjure the word on the monitor.
“Try browsing under the entertainment category” Ruby suggested
Amber moved her left hand and pressed the entertainment category on the sidebar of the display.
“There it is, the third one from the top” Ruby said while pointing her finger at the display.
“Pine Cinema Film” Amber read the cinema name. “Let’s see which way it is,” she said while pressing the cinema name.
The display switches to show the cinema information page. The location of the cinema lit up and a triangle appeared above the cinema on the map at the bottom of the screen.
“Third floor” Ruby stated.
“Okay, Let’s go to the third floor, the escalator is just right in front,” Amber said, she grabbed Ruby hand and they both started walking toward the escalator.

In front of the cinema, both Amber and Ruby stand in front of a monitor that is displaying the movies show time.
“So what movie do you want to watch?” Ruby asked
“I don’t really know. Any suggestion? Anything you want to watch?” Amber threw the question back to Ruby.
“Nothing really. I thought we will go with whatever you want to watch” Ruby answered
“Nothing at all?”
“Well… there is this movie adaptation of a novel that piques my interest. But um I don’t know.” Ruby said
“Cool, let’s go with that then,” Amber said
“You sure you don’t want to watch something else?” Ruby asked Amber for confirmation.
“Yeah, it’s totally fine. I’m sure it’s going to be great. After all, I’m hanging out with my bestie” Amber said with a smile on her face.

They walked to the counter and queue up. Lucky for them they are not that many people as they went to the mall before noon.

“Next!’ yelled the man behind one of the counter.
After being in queue for a couple minutes, it’s finally their turn. They walked towards the counter second from the left.

“Two tickets for the movie IT please.” Ruby immediately said.
“I’m sorry but the movie is R rated. Are you two above 17?”
“Oh” the word came out of Ruby after hearing that, she faced Amber with a worried look.
Amber opened her purse, took out her ID and showed it to him. “Yes, we are,” Amber said
The man behind the counter took it and inspects the ID.
“Thank you,” he said while handed the ID back to Amber.
“The latest show time for the movie is at 12.20 p.m.” he continued
Ruby looked at Amber with a puzzled face.
Amber looked at Ruby “You okay with 12.20 p.m.? She asked
“Yeah, sure,” Ruby said. She decided to trust Amber and played along even though she is still quite confused about the situation.
“12.20 p.m. it is.” He said. “As you can see, the cinema screen is over here.” He said while pointing on a rectangular black bar with the word screen on the display of the counter.
“The red seat is taken while the green one is available” He continued his explanation.
“Which seat do you want?” Amber asked Ruby for her opinion.
“We will take the seat on the 3rd row from the entrance, somewhere in the middle,” Ruby said to the man behind the counter.
“Is seat 16 and 17 ok?” He asked while showing the position of the seat.
“Yes,” Both Amber and Ruby said at the same time.

After purchasing their tickets Ruby grabbed Amber’s arm and dragged her to a corner near the entrance of the toilets.

“How did you do that? How did you trick the man at the counter? Did you use a fake ID or something?” Ruby started bombarding Amber with questions.
“Magic” Amber replied as she winked at her.
