Well, at least this time the main character lives, if you can call it that. I like the insight of seeing someone act on impulse because they can and not recognizing wisdom until it's too late. Patience is a virtue, indeed.

Thanks for reading :) Life alone would be a terrible burden.

I really enjoyed this! So awesome seeing my alien take on these new ideas...and surprisingly a few of them are precisely the direction that I would have taken. That complete and empty loneliness is actually a real fear of mine...which I have infused into my own version of the character in this artwork. Up until now she has been sorta 'nameless' nothing seemed to fit...and I have been calling her by her title...but wow Aramathea is so perfect! Honestly...I might be hard pressed to call her anything but Aramathea or very similar after this. What brought it out? Perhaps I could credit you with an additional cross-over story and in another version of this reality or a different split second decision I could explore more of her rage fueled emotion...path to wisdom and alien deity stone powers. So perfect! <3 <3 <3

Thanks for reading! When I do one of these writing prompts from a piece of art or a photo, I like to pick out one or two key, unique features of the image, and then write a story based around that. In the case of our alien lady, it was the stone in her forehead and the complete loneliness of her position. So, those two bits became the central focus of the story.

The 'Aramathea' name is actually biblical, but I took a slight liberty with the spelling. It's a Greek name for the city from where Joseph came from (the Joseph who handled the body of Jesus after his death and buried him in his own family's tomb). I've always liked the sound of the word, and our alien lady felt like she might have some Greek blood in her.

Thank you for the comments!

I love this, I'd like to know what her life is like all alone, so many of these short stories on steemit seem ripe for expansion! Good sci fi is sorely lacking.

Thanks! The hardest part of writing a short story (especially when you feel like you have a good idea) is knowing when to stop and what you have to leave out. You're right though, a lot of stories I read on steemit would be great for expansion. One can only hope they've planted a seed in either the author's mind or the mind of another writer that might grow into something bigger later.
