It was far into the Night, the moonlight illuminated my room with it's bluish-white spectrum and there i lay, on my floor-level mattress staring upwards at the ceiling and taking a glance around the dimly lit room every now and then to ensure i was alone. You see, i had slept for a long time during the day and as expected, tried and failed to force myself to sleep now that i really wanted it the most.
A look around the room again, to the right and then to the left, and that was when i saw IT, at the far end of the wall close to the foot of my bed , oh!! i saw it, watched it intently and recognized it as what was supposed to be my own shadow, standing upright, hands on waist and was watching me too with deep red eyes. startled by this obscure sight, i could feel the chills run down my spine, the taste of Fear rise to my mouth and my heart thumping so hard it could rip itself out of my chest any moment despite my futile efforts to lay still and convince myself it was just a trick of the night...... And suddenly it moved, yes, my own shadow or rather what was supposed to be my shadow moved, reaching for my legs with it's outstretched arms, i closed my eyes not wanting to see what it was going to do next and wishing that it was a nightmare that was going to pass soon but the violent pull on my ankles brought me back to reality as it started pulling me to itself into the wall and just when i was about to let out a blood curling scream, it spoke, called my name twice and said "WhAt's YoUr PrObLeM?, StOp KiCkinG". Startled by the sound of it's angry voice which sounded somewhat familiar, i opened my eyes to see my brother holding my legs and looking down at me with a frown on his face, then i also realized the room was bright with sunlight streaming in through the windows but it was until i heard the voices of bus conductors yelling for passengers and hawkers announcing their arrival that i finally realized i just woke up from a Nightmare.
