Operation Bird Catcher p2

in #fiction7 years ago

At the same time Dana was talking to T'Lish, a cloaked and hooded stranger was intently watching the pitch-black Mission class transport. So far as he knew, everybody was on board the 32 meter stubby looking ship, except for the two men who were ground side at Moskva. As the chief engineer bustled past the aft hatch, the man melded into the shadows and waited until it was safe, then softly padded forward and entered the ship.

Captain Dana jumped in surprise as the computer sounded the intruder alert.

"Sir, the intruder has passed the entry hatch and is enroute to the bridge." Janice calmly stated. "There is no response from Martin." The communications officer continued as she watched the blinking cursor enter another junction.

"That's enough, Defcon two." Dana ordered.

The intruder paused for a moment as the alarms changed timbre. From his perspective, things had just become more interesting. If this were a larger ship, he would have attempted to duck into a Jeffries tube. However, since this ship was not that big, he would have to find another way to the flight deck. He briefly thought about using his command overrides to disengage the security systems.

“The internal sensors say he’s this way.” The intruder heard a voice call out.

A wry grin crossed his face as he turned and started in the direction of an interface terminal, only to be stopped as a force field popped into place in front of him. Now the game is afoot, he thought as he considered his goal. It was still the same, to get to the flight deck. This is going to require some finesse.

Pulling a modified tridorder from his pocket, he pointed it toward the force field, nodding as the force field snapped out of existence just long enough to allow him to sneak past.

The intruder waited until the two men reached the far end of the corridor, and then resumed his trek to the bridge.

"He's now at section three." Janice stated, still watching the screen.

Dana leaned over Janice's shoulder and watched as the intruder entered the next section. Due to his attention on the screen, he didn't see Faldor run off of the flight deck, phaser in hand.

His first hint that there was trouble was when he heard a thud and turned to see the Andorian hit the forward bulkhead.
