This Week Under the Trellis

This week's featured spec-fic stories include:

How to be featured in Under the Trellis:

  1. Join the Speculative Fiction Writers of Steemit (SFWS) Discord group. If you’re not on Steemit, join Steemit.
  2. Write a Steemit post that falls under the speculative fiction umbrella and post a link to it in the Speculative Fiction room of the SFWS Discord server. Each week, Garden Gnome Publications will feature one story from each author that is in good standing.

If you're not sure if your story is speculative fiction, ask if it easily falls into the science fiction, fantasy, or horror categories. If not, it's probably not spec-fic. We have a posting room for anything that is not speculative fiction (#non-specfic-promo).

Become a Contributor

Speculative Fiction Writers of Discord and Garden Gnome Publications are looking for a few contributors. You'll be rewarded handsomely for your contributions. These are the positions we're looking to fill:

  • Community Evangelist - We're looking for an outgoing individual to help manage the community, welcome new members, moderate discussions, and inspire the other member to contribute more. Get a promotion to Fictionista (the highest rank in our Discord server) and higher curation rewards.
  • Create a unique banner for the Spec-Fic Parade - See the top image of this newsletter? Can you create a masthead just for the Parade. You'll get credit, see your work in print every week, and get rewarded for your efforts.
  • Blog Editor - Publish once a week to the Flim Flam Bush and read submissions, read flash fiction submissions, accept the ones you like, and publish them on the Garden Gnome Publications blog.
  • Imprint Editor - Like being an editor? Start your own imprint under the Garden Gnome Publications umbrella. I'll train you to put out a call for submissions, help select the best ones, and train you to publish in print and digital formats. Earn 50% of the profits from your imprint.
  • Got Your Own Ideas? - See a way we can improve? We're open to ideas. Share your ideas and if we implement them, you'll be rewarded for helping us out.

Until now, Garden Gnome Publications has been a labor of love, run by one guy in his pajamas (and his toe stuck in the soil). If you love speculative fiction and want to see it grow on the Steem blockchain, if you'd like to be a part of a speculative fiction publishing effort and help grow GGP into a profitable spec-fic publishing enterprise, come on board. Don't make me do it all myself!

This newsletter is compiled by @blockurator. Dividers by @ediblechthulhu.

Sort:

I like the project a lot in general and I will be happy to take a part or parts in it whenever I can.

Also, I just tested delegating through steemworld my promised symbolic amount and it seems it worked.

I'd be happy to know more about three things... I know I may check somewhere but I'll put my questions here, anyway, for others to see:

  • More about the imprint editor role;

  • A summary of what happens to those stories we submit on Discord... when we do, eventually, I mean;

  • Have you launched a project on fundition.io?

@manoldonchev, those are all great questions. Here are the answers to the best of my ability to answer at this time.

  1. An imprint editor is essentially chief of a project. The expectation is that you'll come up with a concept within the speculative fiction umbrella that is unique (no other publisher is doing it) and that you would have some passion to pursue. You might, for instance, have a passion for #horror stories that are set in fictional worlds. So you'd develop the imprint, put out calls for submission, read the submissions, edit, and publish them. It will be your baby. Ideally, we're looking to publish print and digital books, but you might develop short story and flash fiction ideas for the blog as loss leaders and ways to attract the right audience. More details can be covered in private if someone is interested.
  2. Stories on Discord. You're talking about links to stories on your Steemit blog, right? Our Discord channel has several link rooms. We'll likely develop more as we grow. Just submit your link to the appropriate room so others can see it and read what you wrote, upvote, and comment. We want members to support each other, so for each link you submit, you should find something else to upvote and comment.
  3. No, we have not done Fundition yet. Maybe in the future. That is a good idea though. I might want some help with that. There are some things we garden gnomes just aren't good at.

Questions are welcome. Keep them coming.

Thank you. I will ;)

I am hyped about all of this. But I am into so much that I need to finish a few things first. Before getting into others. But that may be the right amount of time for a good idea to grow ;)

Stopping by to show some 💕

I am not a writer, but this is a cool iniative for those that do

Thanks. Glad you like it.
