# 101: Enter the Dragon II

Joshua gazed upon the face of a dragon. It was examining him closely...close up and personal.

The dragons eyes read his soul and did not find him wanting. He heard a voice. He must not have died. He couldn’t be hearing a voice if he was dead could he?

“You’re going to be Ok, little one.” the voice said. “My spawn will get you out of this. Be brave. Another will be with you shortly.”

Then the eyes faded away. He heard another voice. That of a man.

“Do you hang out here often?” he heard the man say. “Don’t be so stuck up. You can talk to me. What’s your name son? That was a little bit of humor. Very little. You can laugh later. First thing first. Let’s get you out of here.”

Joshua noticed that the mind numbing pain was gone.

“My name is Joshua sir.” He said without opening his eyes. Freedom from that soul searing pain was SO nice. “My name Joshua Florette. Who are you?”

“My name Shelby. I’m the local Kraken thing in these parts. Right now I’m going to get you out of this mess. Everything will be OK. You might want keep your eyes closed there Joshua. This might be ugly.” Marc told him.

The word “Kraken” percolated thru Joshua’s mind. His eyes snapped open. He looked at the speaker. Nope...not a man. A huge squid thing was hanging from the tree beside him. It was holding him in it’s tentacles as a matter of fact. He watched in horrified fascination as a tentacle tip wrapped around the tree branch that he was impaled upon and snapped it like a toothpick.

The Kraken then held him aloft as it backed carefully down out of the tree onto the tiny island and slithered into the water. He was held high above the floating chunks of ice.

The boy hadn’t heard the mental conversation between Shelby and Elvira “If you have any idea what I should do this would be a good time to tell me. If I slide him off the tree branch all his insides are coming out.”

“That would be bad” Elvira said “why not just snap off the tree branch and take him to the hospital. They can remove it there. The nano-thingies I injected into him will keep him alive.”

“Sounds like a plan.” Marc said.

“I’m going to hand you off to that Medivac chopper if I can get it’s attention.” Shelby told Joshua “Elvira here gave you something to fix the plumbing. You’ve stopped bleeding. You’ll be ok. When you get to a hospital they’ll remove the tree branch. You might have a scar. Chicks dig scars don’t they? I know my girl friends do. Yvette will too. Oh…speaking of Yvette. She’ll be along soon. Then she’ll take care of you. Everything will be alright.”

“Take two aspirin and call me in the morning.” Elvira said. A dragon named Elvira? She was hovering beside him.

Joshua was too confused to be afraid. He felt himself lifted.

Shelby held Joshua aloft with one tentacle while waving at the Medivac chopper with another. What was the matter with that guy? Couldn’t he see that there were injured people down here?
