#20: Naomi - Upon The Flood Waters

Naomi was tele-operating the small dragon drone.

Hours ago....the flood waters had risen high enough to ‘float their boat’. They’d been adrift ever since. Their ‘life-boat’ had been designed and built in haste. They’d been sore pressed to make enough SSmoke for it’s construction. Minor details like propulsion had been foregone. It could float. That was about it.

Even so it was large enough and well stocked for the two of them for a while, but windfalls would be nice.

The two of them had an eye out (drone style) for anything that might be of use. They were looking for food or anything to use as feedstock for SSmoke. So far they’d had little luck. Water, water everywhere. almost everything had sunk...nothing much else to see.

At the moment Naomi was alone.

Something caught her eye...she flew the drone closer to investigate.

She heard a baby cry.

“What the hell?” Naomi said as the drone swooped down and landed on the object of her attention. On closer inspection it was a baby contraption. She forgot the name. Stroller, bassinet, carry-cot..who the hell knew? There were so MANY things for kids nowadays. Naomi couldn’t keep up. Not that she tried. Babies were the furtherest thing from her mind. She had ZERO plans for babies in her future.

Guess not.

Make a plan...and Murphy laughs.

There was a baby in that contraption.

................and it didn't look like it was doing very good.

In fact it looked like it was about to die, if it hadn’t already...it had stopped crying...
and moving....was it still breathing?
