#91: NeighborHood Patrol

Tommy ran out the door.

“Officer Marc will be here soon!” he told his mother “ I have to help him patrol the neighborhood. We’re keeping the bad guys away!”

“What was THAT all about” Tommy’s daddy asked his mother after Tommy had run pell-mell out the door. He hadn’t usually been at home this time of day. He was learning to adjust since he’d quit his job in the Metro.

“It happens every day. “ She told him “when Officer Marc, the constable, arrives, all the kids in the neighbor hood go with him while he “patrols.” I think it’d kind of cute actually.”

“Is that the same guy who saved a boy from drowning the other week?” Tommy’s father asked “come to think of it I met him one day. It was after we had that fight. He was skipping rocks across the water with Tommy.”

“Yup. .....that’s the guy.” Tommy’s mother said.” He’s a cripple. War Vet I hear. Got his legs blowed off. Hasn’t let that slow him down. He’s got some kind of high tech thing he uses for legs. Rather amazing actually.”
