Well this is it my fine friends, the second installment of the supernatural series The Allies of Old, has begun! So many questions to be answered, mysteries to be solved and allies to find and unite in the battles to come.

I apologize for the briefness of this chapter, but there's no help for it, adding chapter adding a chapter would make it too lengthy. But I assure you chapter one, slated for Friday, will make up for it.

Prologue

Paulo strode out into Terrina’s expansive back lawn and knelt down, cradling the dying girl. He pressed a hand to the gash on her neck as he sank his fangs into his wrist, then wrenched her mouth open and squeezed blood onto her tongue. His wound healed quickly and he had to repeat the process several times, forcing her to swallow, before he saw what he hoped to see. He watched with a sense of satisfaction as her skin began to mend, the slash at her throat sealing and closing.

In a few minutes it was as though she had never been cut, but he continued breaking open his own skin and feeding her until he was certain she’d drank enough to initiate the change.

She began to thrash and the violence of it was encouraging. He believed she would survive. Of course once she made it through the transition she would not be the pretty, cognizant human girl she was before, but he could have some fun before he had to destroy her.

He blurred into the city and stopped in a dark alley, stretching out his senses. He had decided against taking her to his own residence as he had no desire to share and he did not live alone. He needed to find a deserted place to wait out her transition.

He located an abandoned apartment building and started towards it, then stopped when he caught the scent of other vampires nearby. He tried to pinpoint their position, but the dawn was fast approaching and his extra sensory perceptions were beginning to wane. He was running out of time so he took a chance and headed towards a door.

“What do we have here?”

He froze, cursing his weakness, then turned slowly and faced three males dressed in modern Goth. In seconds they had him surrounded and he recognized them as the newcomers on vacation from their home in Vegas. They had briefly attended one of the underground blood sport events. He remembered seeing them come in but a few minutes later they had disappeared and he hadn’t seen them since. He knew that didn’t bode well for him, even if they did have the scent of human blood on them.

“Another one of your special events?” There was a sneer in the voice of the one who approached, confirming his suspicion of their disapproval.

He opened his mouth to deny it, but knew it was too late. The girl was ripped from his arms and he was shoved backwards onto the blacktop.

The last thing he saw before his vision went black were the flames in their eyes as they drained him of life and sent him to hell.
