Jess could still feel the heat of the fire. As it raced up the walls of the log cabin library, swallowing the shelves of books. Always in the nightmare, her instinct for Kayla. She’d drag her daughter out of the house, the fire transforming into a burning hand, reaching out to seize them both and hold them there until their charred bodies burst to ash. The instinct, always for the girl and never for the books. That hand like a demon, always connected to Malik.

Yee yee!
Those were some bad EMP bombs if they couldn’t hit underground. Otherwise lucky you to have a curie vote. Resteem’d.
Nice! :)
I enjoyed this from start to finish! Great read!
This was so beautifully engrossing it was really hard to make notes. Another completely immersive masterpiece. The dialogue is so believable, the characters given just the right amount of depth, I just got lost in it! The characters fear is relatable, and reading it, you feel the tension. The depth of character relationships created in seemingly simple exchanges is brilliant. I love the ending, and the mystery, and what have they found and who is Tom, why does he guard them! Jeez another story of yours I will be thinking about for days, and I am still wondering about little steampunk Betty! Thank you very much for such an exceptionally enjoyable entry!
