Like the chess game in your photo, all the players are lining up to take the king - really the queen. The secrets have kept every pawn stubbornly in place and ready for a move when the time came. I believe the reveal will clear the false beliefs and there will not be a check mate.
I'm so glad somebody made the connection - there are so many possible metaphors for this dysfunctional family - a labyrinth of secret passageways with a minotaur at the center, or in this case, a game of chess with Alicia and the aunts hoping to win. Good comment
