Mobara Japanese Restaurant - An FFF Entry -
Hello again, fellow Food Fight Friday fans! I’m really grateful for this competition / community being here on the platform as it’s often the highlight of my week (OK, so I need to get out more...) and I think one of the few remaining reasons I am still here, but that’s a whole other post for a whole other time though and it’s time to focus on the task at hand.
It had been a while since I’d been to the Mobara Japanese Restaurant in the middle of Salisbury, South Australia, only having been there once before. My thinking was to get a cool photo of one of their desserts, possibly for a post on the APPICS dApp, but I also had a vague memory of it being expensive.
So, on Thursday I decided to head over there.
Embracing Japanese culture It’s an enclosed space, largely to keep the small birds from flying in and causing health problems and although their opening times can create some confusion, not being open on Mondays and Tuesdays, it’s a pleasant space to be in.

The menu and the ordering form. After being politely shown to my choice of table, I was presented with a menu and an order form.
The menu items are given a number and I could list how many of each item I liked.
Strangely enough they have included a Pho section, which is Vietnamese food, but I wanted something that would make and interesting photo (this is a competition after all! :) ) and I’ve submitted enough Vietnamese food for the time being.
At AU$3.70 you’d want to split it with royalty too! You can get soft drinks a lot cheaper elsewhere, for the record, but there doesn’t seem to be
any pricing consistency across Adelaide. Also for the record I don’t drink with a straw, I just thought the image was amusing, for reasons of my own. I’m still looking for my princess...
Fried chicken and mayonnaise As an entree, I ordered these fried chicken pieces with mayonnaise. These were quite nice and the artistry on the mayonnaise was so interesting it became a deterrent to ruin it, well at least until I could get a photo. Plus I could eat thieve with chopsticks too.
Just look at it! For the main course, I wanted something that I thought would be both photogenic but also light on the carbohydrates because I would be eating icecream later. Plus, under doctor’s orders I have to keep my vitamin b levels up. So, Teriyaki Beef was the best option. Their Ramen noodles look awesome but would be a total carb overload. Next time maybe.

The staff were both polite and professional, and asked me when I would be ready for dessert and it wasn’t long before I was both ready for and presented with this passionfruit cheesecake and icecream.
Simply divine The small flowers are edible too. This was an incredible dessert and one I easily recommend.

It’s a thumbs up from me It was a great meal and a great night, and I will see about visiting there again for their Vietnamese food at some point in the future but it might be a while as this entire meal cost me AU$42.
And now I can’t wait to see what all of your competition entries are... plus I hear there that there is some awesome news regarding this competition. Exciting stuff!

Thank you. It's good to see that at least some people think that connecting to other people isn't nonsense. (I had a troll try to tell me I should be burning all of my rewards if my focus was on connecting to other people). This was someone with enough Steem Power for a $10.00 upvote / downvote and they think my sole focus here was money...
The rewards are nice, sure, but I have never powered down nor even taken Steem off the platform. Shrug. Some people, eh?
Neither have I @shaidon. I even power up 100% when posting on steemit. Speaking of, i just powered up another 500 yesterday! 👍🏿

I’ve never heard of chicken and mayonnaise—never! I’ve never heard of ketchup on ice cream either, man.. I’m sure glad that wasn’t the case. 👍🏿

Thank you. I think it's part of the New Steem that is leading to the greater recognition. People are leaving and so people are looking for more content. As for the deep fried chicken and mayonaise, it's called Kaarage, but I had lost the piece of paper which had my notes on it.
And no, that wasn't ketchup on the icecream. LMAO! :D
I hope the competition goes from strength to strength. I keep getting people telling me I should submit these to TaSteem, but I am having more fun here.
@shaidon, I’ve submitted several of my #fff contenders to @tasteem. It’s absolutely acceptable, I was going to mention that to you actually, seriously, I really was. I just assumed you weren’t interested. Notice @jlsplatts did that this week with his contender. I think I’ve submitted four or five contenders to restaurant reviews and got a 2 for 1 each time.
