Ditch Facebook and Hop on the Blockchain!

The Facebook debacle brings validity to concerns I have had for years about privacy and security on social media websites. Zuckerberg and Co are taking an enormous punch to the gut as negative media streams dominate social circles, and rightly so. Let's face it, when Elon Musk exits stage right, you may be in trouble. Not to worry though, I have no doubt that the Facebook team is working diligently behind the scenes to offer us a new shiny sacrifice in the hope we will forget about their epic fail.

The irony is that it isn't only Facebook. That's right, we need not be so shocked to discover that most company's are absorbing as much of our personal data as we willing give them. The idea that these large conglomerates know us better than we know ourselves is downright terrifying!

So, what do we do about it? Sure, we can continue to exit Facebook in droves, which I am doing, but then what? We use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, and many other platforms to network, commune with like-minded people, and to offer up our own products and services thereby linking us with these "tools" as if we are gum stuck to the bottom of a shoe.

There are alternatives. We simply need to use them. I get it, you're settled into Facebook, all your family and friends are there and it's convenient because of the app, blah, blah, blah. I have made these same arguments to myself, so I get it, really I do, but...

Change is hard, and most of the time it's unwanted, and perhaps even a bit emotional. That is exactly how they want us to think and feel. Hell we can't go 24 hours without our cell phones, so I would say they're "winning". I keep asking myself -- how much money have they made off me? The thought sickens me.

Change is also good. Let's utilize the alternatives, which are safe -- truly safe. Let's show these soul-suckers that they can no longer exploit us. No action isn't an option if you want to escape the tentacles of Facebook and others.
