Collecting gold foil commons as an investment (Steem Monsters) and still buying Steem.
Steem Monsters is keeping a lot of people busy.
I am one of them.
With the Alpha packs sale closing rapidly (less then 50k packs left) no-one really knows what will happen after it ends or what the cards will be worth in the end.
It's pretty existing (for me at least).
Personally I have been concentrating on collecting the alpha gold foil commons.
This is part of my collection.
After calculating the drop rate I just figured these were the best cards to buy and collect.
It's relatively low risk vs a decent return if I'm right.
But everything depends wether Steem Monster can be as successful of course.
But it looks good.
With fighting starting soon (this month) I expect it to attract a lot of attention from within the Steem community and hopefully also from outside of Steem.
So far the investment is turning out alright with (sadly) Steem/crypto going ever lower and the cards going up in value.
When it comes to STEEM I have decided not to concentrate to much on the price lately and just concentrate on my blog and my goal of 150k which has become a lot easier with these prices.
But man....
I said it before and say it again.
I personally never would have thought that the prices would get to where they are now.
It's the biggest lesson in fundamentals vs short term market forces I ever got taught.
Anyway, I just crossed 140k and slowly cruising towards my set goal 150k.
I'm not stopping anytime soon!

Congrats on passing 140k! I just picked up some more packs the other day and I was finally able to get a couple of gold cards. I think I have three now. It is pretty sad compared to what a lot of other people are gathering, but it is the best I could do with the funds I have available. The good thing to remember about the price of STEEM is that it is more an indication of the market as a whole as opposed to the individual health of Steemit. I feel like every day I am reading about a new app that has been built on top of the STEEM blockchain to supplement Steemit. Even though the price is low, the platform is growing so fast!
That´s a great investment, and it will become even better very soon, when fighting starts. Your deck must be looking pretty good, I'm guessing :D

In relation to STEEM I don't care at all, at this point the lower it gets the better. Our goal here is to accumulate for years and years until the success kicks in.... which will happen, it's just inevitable.
I am honest: I am intrigued by Steemit Monsters, but I am not sure that it could be a good investment.

Wow. Not far from 150K now @exyle. I signed up for one of the Kick Starter packages today. Now I've got a long wait to see if it goes through.
If it doesn't it looks like I will have missed my chance at those alpha packs if there's only 50K booster packs left.
There are a few people going bonkers buying them by the looks of what's going on in Discord. 😂
You can buy them under your current account still. And sent them over once the kickstarter is finished.

I think I'll probably start a new account anyway as the people following me on my main account don't appear to have much interest in Steem Monsters.
I don't know too much about Steemmonsters, but I'm amazed at your enthusiasm, @exyle!! Just by seeing the excitement at this stage, I know it will be great when the game starts. Greetings!
It's basically a trading card game on the blockchain. In about 3-4 weeks players will be able to battle each other and compete over real price money. It's not everyone's cup of tea but I like it.
This is a great way to keep ones mind in something different than the markets and their prices. Now I have the problem deciding whether to buy more packs or buy more STEEM. Decisions are tough but given the way packs have been sold this past week (even after considering the adjustment they made to the availability), that may be the best place to put the money right now.
Oh man with the price going lower its very exciting to try and purchase cheap Steem @exyle I feel today was definitely one of the biggest opportunities to buy Steem so far this year I talked about it in my post anyway congrts on being 10k away from your target and having collected all those gold foil commons cards.
Yeah good prices today. I just keep buying gradually and slowly grind up. I don't know where the bottom is.
I think that is a very good strategy @exyle other people might buy in with everything at the current price and won't be able to average down if it goes lower.
