Exhibition: Berlin during the revolution 1918/1919

in #exhibition5 years ago (edited)

The Museum of Photography shows more than 300 pictures, postcards, posters, newspapers and film clips with which photographers captured the revolution and the early days of the first German Republic with their subjective gaze.

On view are handicapped returnees to war and exuberant revue visitors, a resigning emperor and bludgeoned revolutionaries. The revolution at the end of the First World War led to the proclamation of the Republic and the end of the Monarchy on November 9, 1918. In Berlin, the post-war period was marked by great contradictions - bitter political battles on the one hand and an unprecedented zest for life on the other.

The exhibition "Berlin in the Revolution 1918/19th Photography, Film, Entertainment" can be seen until March 3, 2019 at the Museum für Fotografie in the Jebensstraße. It is part of the Berlin theme winter marking the anniversary of the revolution 100 years ago.
