Japan and it's shrinking population
I was reading an article yesterday about Japan's problems that they are now encountering. They currently have around a million homes abandoned that nobody wants.
The population is out of balance with more than a third of the current poulation as pensioners. They need to start relaxing their laws to attract foreign workers now.The death rate has surpassed the birth rate and the gap is going to increase.
The biggest crisis is houses that are left empty and abandoned. Children inheritting them don't want the hassle by changing the title into their names due to tax duties.Why take a house on if you have no chance of selling it and be burdened with extra taxes. It has got so bad that the government reckons a third of all properties in Japan will be empty over the next 15 years.
Some homes are being given away and others are very cheap ,so cheap they are being comapred to buying an expensive appliance. I knew other countries had similar problems like Germany hence the influx of refugees. I wish we had this problem as I see it as a good problem to have. There has to be opportunities to do something.
Everywhere I have lived properties have been over valued and been so hard to get on the property ladder. I wander what bargains will pop up in other countries over the coming years. Germany and Japan are not the only countries with a negative population.

Had a Japanese friend over to Ireland to stay for a couple of weeks last year and he couldn’t get over the golf clubs . He thought my own golf club was top class and If it was in Japan it would cost around 250,000 to be a member for a year. He wants to move to Ireland now because he couldn’t get over how sparse the population was . We are in the same boat with population but we have a great relationship with the polish community and there are many living here now .

Howdy sir cyptoandcoffee! Yes many countries have this dilemma so it should be interesting to see how power shifts in the coming decades. If one had some extra money it might be a good time to buy some Japanese properties if it wasn't for the high taxes.
