Steel Drum Music for Seniors and My Third Pinball Tournament In One Day! Part 1 of 2

in #esteem6 years ago (edited)

Today me and the guys in Steel Parade are performing for seniors in Los Angeles California. We've performed for this group of seniors several times before. Every other season it seems, for the last 8 years, we've performed here... wow

Last time I performed at a senior center, it got a little rough. I'm sure this time will be more mellow.

My Plan in the form of a non-plagiarized poem...

Wake and bake to Sh!t, shower and shave.
Prep gear/equipment and be ready for carpool.
Eat a chocolate buttermilk donut dipped in black coffee for the will to unload equipment.
Perform for Bixby Tower residents. Then do as they do and take a nap.
Food? Wake and bake with coffee to go.
Leave early to practice pinball before the tournament starts.
Win Pinball Tournament...

Scroll down to avoid bad poems.

Bass For Steel Parade at The Bixby Towers

Get on the Sandy Bus and let's carpool to a donut or two!

Yum! Take them all let's go!

We are here!

Let's set up.

Steel Parade's ensemble features Steel Pan, Drum Set, Bass, and Vocals. Today we have a percussion player with us. He brought a Djembe and a Pandero. The Djembe is a hand drum from Africa. The Pandero is slightly similar to a tambourine and it's from Brazil.

Click here to see my live broadcast of our performance on Periscope: https://www.pscp.tv/w/blc0WTFtTUtQdldZa3lnRUd8MVlxSkRRZGt3bFF4VjuQNGqw4BjUvXp2RHQ69sTp2_m8LD2vqOUf9xhD6Hv3?t=2m14s

You know me, that guy who posted upside down steel drum images first. This is probably an Steem anniversary...

Anyway, that is @steelparade’s Steel Pan. He lays it on the ground like that just before we go into play.

Obviously, we wouldn't want to have our cases/equipment bags with us while we are performing. That would be FUGLY! So, we put our stuff away and then he lays it on the ground for a final moment to prepare for the performance.

Next: Part 2, I enter a third pinball tournament!

Hi @steemseph, I'm @checky ! While checking the mentions made in this post I noticed that @steelparades doesn't exist on Steem. Maybe you made a typo ?

Yes, I made a typo, but your comment is still ironically accurate. I don’t get it. I tell them that they can reward fans with real money and they act like it’s still a scam.
They do a lot already so maybe they’re just leaving it up to me.
“Lazy strategy” or “coping with saturation strategy”... I can’t tell anymore.
I’ve failed Steem.
Thanks for the catch.

More steel drums!

Ok, just for you, I’ll add some steel drummy kinda somhin’er other thing into part 2.

Sandy Bus sure makes for a classy arrival!

But I'm really curious about that pinball tournament now...

You gave me an idea! I’ll put together a collection on the stuff I’ve made for Sandy Bus.
Thanks
