Meson la Mezquita
Meson la Mezquita is another of those small, local Spanish restaurants. We had dined there before, and my friend had been back a few times, so they remember us. Thus, whenever we dine with them, they are always very welcoming. The service staff doesn’t speak much English, but we can see he tries very hard. The owner speaks some English.
Most restaurants in Benalmadena are small – usually about half a dozen tables inside. If they have a patio or a terrace, then there will be another half a dozen tables. Spanish people dine late. Local restaurants don’t open for dinner until 8:00 pm, and they get busy only from 9:00 pm onwards. We dine early, so we were usually the first customers. We do not have to wait for a table or for our food.
This is what we had the other day. There were four of us. Three of us had chicken and one had prawns.
Pollo Relleno. It is chicken stuffed with dates, bacon and cheese, served in a creamy mushroom sauce. It is very nice. We wanted to ask if this is a traditional Spanish dish, but we couldn't make ourselves be understood.
You can opt for the curry sauce if you are so inclined.
Gambas Pil pil. This is prawns cooked in olive oil, garlic and chilli – supposedly a popular Spanish dish. My friend who had this assured me it is very nice. She had this dish on both visits.
Most Spanish restaurants serve a small side dish of olives and bread of some sort.

I didn't follow tasteem. So don't know what is the theme.
Howdy sir Vincent! I like those kind of little places. You need to learn Spanish so you can talk to them though. lol. The food is unlike any type I've seen but I'd like to try it as long as you are buying, plus the beer! lol.
