Distant Cousins

in #esteem7 years ago

#WednesdayWalk is a challenge started by @tattoodjay, The idea is to get out for a short walk, and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it." - Soren Kierkegaard
I take daily walks, weather permitting, and when I do not have other engagements. I am lucky to have a wonderful route for my walks. It is well maintained, and there are plenty of trees, plants and flowers along the route.
Today, I will share some of the fruit bearing trees/plants. Unfortunately, I do not know their names. However, they resemble the fruits I know the names of. That is why I call them 'Distance Cousins'.
This fruit looks like a persimmon . It has a very strong scent. Some walker told me they are edible. I took their word for it and tried one. I lived to tell the tale. The texture of the fruit is also like that of a persimmon. But they are not persimmon. Perhaps they are cousins - distant cousins.
These look like cherries. Again, I was told they are edible. I tried one. They are too sour and too acidic to be eaten - unless you have a stomach for that. These are probably distant cousins of the cherries - very distant.
This is another very familiar looking fruit. Perhaps I have seen it sold somewhere, or perhaps they look like the sour sop to me.
This is something I am totally clueless about.
If you know of these fruits, and/or trees, do comment on them. Thanks!
What an interesting mix of fruits sorry I do not know the name of any of them
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)
No worries. 😊
My pleasure @tattoodjay. 😊
Howdy sir Vincent! That's a nice variety you have on that walk you do. How far did you say it was, a few blocks?
One end to the other - three kilometers.
just the facts Ma'am, just the facts. Boy you're talkative today!
That's a pretty good walk.
I am like that sometimes.
My walk to and fro on the route comes to about 6 kilometers.
Barely the facts again today. lol. Is it mostly city streets, parks, businesses or a mixture? Is it hilly, flat, or a combination? Do you always go by yourself or do you like to have company to yack at? lol. You should get a big dog to walk or you could make a side income by walking someone else's dog.
I thought you would have put together an image of my walking route by now from reading all my posts on walking. 😊 It's quite a straight forward route by a canal with trees and flowers doted along the route. There are also water points and facilities like toilet and exercise stations, and benches along the way. I prefer to walk alone. However, I have known enough regular walkers by now, so sometimes if we meet and are at the same pace, we will walk together and have a chat.
Dogs are too much responsibility.
Oh well excuse me for not being more observant sir Vincent. lol. I remember seeing lots of trees and tall buildings but not a canal or water points. I think you're just trying to keep your exact route a secret but that's understandable. If you had photos of the canal then I either forgot them or missed those posts.
Dogs are a full time job.
No worries. There will be more posts on my walks, so stay tuned. lol
Yes, dogs are a full time job, and a lot of responsibility and commitment. I don't think I can afford that.
