In France by exchange program. Day VII
After a night exploring the Foix city, we decided to visit again. I would like to tell you during the day Foix looks just fine. The city is notable for a spectacular ancient citadel on the top of a cliff. I recommend you to read the most interesting articles about the Cathars, in which you will learn about the dramatic history of the castle of the family Foix.
We walked through the streets of the city heading for the entrance to the citadel. To our great disappointment, the fortress was closed for restoration. We are amazingly unlucky with visiting the sights. My wife philosophically noticed that outside the fortress looks much more interesting than from the inside.
Well, we spent the remaining time on a detailed acquaintance with the historical center. It would not be an exaggeration to say that we got acquainted with the architecture of the city for an excellent assessment!
I was deeply impressed by the ancient temple built by the disappeared Visigoths. Laconic architecture has a maximum impact on the viewer!
So, on a visit to this city, we could draw the final line. It can be seen in the sky :-)
Goodbye Foix. I don’t know if we will see you again. We were fascinated by you.
In the articles on the history of the south of France, the city of Mirepoix was mentioned several times. He was on our way. Why not visit this city?
Autumn reigned in the city. A riot of colors and the ocean of fallen leaves!
Here you can shoot a historical movie without any decorations.
It is easy to imagine that in this fabulous city the inhabitants built houses for themselves in the form of gingerbread.
And again we have to go. Our destination is fortress Carcassonne.
