HOUSEHOLD CHORES FOR OUR CHILDREN

Need a helping hand?

yjg9w72uo2.png

Have you ever wish you have extra two more hands?

Indeed, we cannot do it alone. We need help! I believe that in every household, all works must be shared and divided among all the members of the family. I have been brought up by my parents and taught me chores at a young age, especially that I am the eldest. I was expected to do most of the things at home. I am second in command when they are not around, right @twodorks??!! hahahaha..

Now that I had become a parent myself, it got me thinking how to get them to help us out in our daily household chores. I believe that responsibility be instilled at a young age, so that they may be able to learn its value. Thus, other values related to it are also felt such as cooperation, patience, enthusiasm... and many more. As they begin to discover values, you get to learn it again with them.

How young should they start?

Actually, there is no specific age to start, no definite age requirement. They can start helping in little ways as long as you can tell them what you want them to do. Just dont expect perfection, you can never succeed on that part. They will help in the best way they can, even if you have to do it again because they just mess things up.. Yep! expect that too! No chores is actually done whenever they are around!!! hahahaha

Evidence # 01

  • My little boy seems to have grasp the idea of helping me out. I think she saw me or his father sweeping off the yard for falling leaves. Nope! I did not forced him to do it, he is just too serious. He rarely smiles! hahaha I swear he loves doing it.

  • See! He just wont give me back the broom and dust pan. He needs more time cleaning! He is totally enjoying sweeping on a single leaf over and over and over again. He just wont stop sweeping even if he was tired already, he wouldnt let it go.

Evidence # 02

  • During wash day, this is our sceneario. The one hour allotted for washing takes almost three hours when the boys interrupt. Kuya Maque would always says, Father let me help you pleaseeeeeeeeeeee...... Yes, it is the Ex-Boyfie who does the washing around with the help from the boys. hihihi.. Im one spoiled wife..

Evidence #03

  • I told the Little Mali here to keep his toys back in the box after he is done playing. Guess what???! He placed himself inside the box instead!! Look how he tried to throw away all the toys so he could fit right in the box.. very clever boy!

Getting things Done

Getting tour children involve takes a lot of encouraging to do. In our family, it is part of our way of living that kids have chores at home.

I think it is important to lead by example because our kids do exactly what they see in us. To them, what they see is true.

yvousjaopg.png

Do not ever delay the chance of teaching your kids to do the chores, the younger they are the better. We just have to remember to guide them, always give appreciation and praises so that they will be encourage to keep it going or else they will get tire of it too soon and too early. And you might end up doing it all by yourself.

In my mind, I am excited to make a CHORE CHART in the future. Looks something like that.. hahaha.. I just cant wait to see the look on my boys. It is okay if they cant do all the chores you have posted, what matters is that they have picked a few chores to do for the day. But, if they had done it all, then you should reward them for being GOOD.

Sometimes, kids get tired easily for doing the same chores everyday. But a clever momma will try to switch jobs per week. You can do rotation among your kids, so that all will get to try to do all the shared chores.

Just keep in mind to put fun into their chores. That is the most important thing to teach them, there must be love and passion in everything they do.

You are very welcome let me know your thoughts!

hahahahaha i forgot to go to the link last night... i was pretty exhausted i went to bed early!

I do like your chore chart!!
That's a great idea.
Wonder if it will work on my tweens-teens who try to escape everything.
When they were younger they were so helpful gahhhh

The little champ is so cute. There's more fun sitting in the box then putting the toys in the box for sure hahaha

Thank you so much for sharing the day with us
I am going to try that chore chart, must think of bait... hmmmmmmmm

it is still a plan, it has not been implemented yet hahahaha... but i am going to just that.. soon i hope.. my eldest is just 6 years old and the youngest just turned one last July..

hahahaha i know what you mean when they are younger they are soooo helpful! hahahahaha... grownups are a different story!!

hahahaha yep he spelled FUN better by being in the box!

good luck on your bait! do tell me if it worked! hahahahaha

Evidence #1 - Deserve extra allowance
Evidence #2 & #3 - Deserve double extra allowance because of thinking out of the box

Don't we just love them.. ha ha

hahahahahaha so you are saying all evidences need allowances!!!!

oh yeah, we just super love how they try to help us in one way of another. Even if it actually means they are just messing things up rather than being helpful in the sense.. hahaha it is the thought that counts! ;)

At least they do a bit to help. With frequent small help although not fully 100% is just as good.
If they do it often enough they will get it right ... And achieve the 100% task assigned.
It worked for me when I try it out with my kids.

Posted using Partiko Android

Yes that is correct.. what is important is the thought they wanted to help. Maybe in time they will be able to ace the chores haha.. i wish!

I hope it will work for me too. I might probably use the chores chart next year! Hahahaha

Posted using Partiko Android

Yeah, we can't do all the never ending household chores...nice you train them young...

Posted using Partiko Android

yes we need to start training early.. so they would also appreciate what responsibilities are.. hehe and its fun watching them learn things! For them it is just part of their playtime.

Ah this is a great post, informative but also chock full of cuteness!
We had a meeting with the kids on our Monday family evening, and we were talking about chores and schedules too.
And interestingly enough we have a similar method with chores being highlighted on a board in the kids rooms.

It all helps the child focus on important matters and balancing them with the things they want to do. It also makes them into well balanced and responsible adults.

I think this post rocks!

And I know I'm not a mamma, but a dad can def use these too :)

Wow! Thank you for the warm appreciation.. you made my day! 😊

Im glad i was able to reach out not just the mommas out there but dads as well. This post was intended for all parent alike!! We all have the same ir somewhat similar experiences when it comes to raising our kids. We just have different approach.

Its great to note you have family meetings.. haha id want to do that too in the future when my kids become grownups. And yes the board charts are effective tool to encourage them to do their chores.

How many kids do you have?

Posted using Partiko Android

I have 7 in total, 5 of my own and 2 step kids. To say our home was a hive of activity is an understatement.
Grew up in a home full of kids so I'm used to it...not so for the wife. She was used to quiet alone time growing up...and now she has 8 kids LOL!!

Oohhhhh wow!! What a big family you have! I always wonder how you guys do it.. i mean i only have two and i am already cracking my head up while you have seven in all! Hahahahaha..

But i did grow up with big families, it has always been both fun and riot!! Haha.. i just remember that meal time has to be done if everyone had already
sat on the table or else you wont get any left..and of course chores are made easier and faster because a lot is helping.

I bet your wife is enjoying having 8 kids!!

Posted using Partiko Android

Hmmm, now getting the help is why we needed the boards and chores! That stuff doesn't happen automatically! Well for us anyway LOL

I Like the big busy family thing.

Although these days I really enjoy alone time with the wife, and now try to make a holiday just for us....weve been skiing every year since we got married to do just that. We love that away time

Keep well, and enjoy your kids....

You should always make time for just the two of you.. it is not bad to take a day or two off from the big and busy family you have.. i am pretty sure the big kids can handle the housd without you..

I like big families too, here in our country, we are always celebrating the holidays with the family! It is kinda a big reunion for us.. just imagine everyome coming home and being with us on the holiday season.

Posted using Partiko Android

I love it, and feel very at home with the noise and action of all the kids and parents chatting and eating etc.
Which country if you dont mind me asking?

Im from the Philippines..

Yes! The crowd and noises are what we always miss when we get to go back to our own world.. hehe
